Cuba launches SocIA artificial intelligence platform, marking a step forward in digital transformation

Cuban software development company Avangenio has officially launched its artificial intelligence (AI) platform called SocIA, marking an important step in the digital transformation journey of this Caribbean island nation.

Speaking at the launch of the platform in the capital Havana, President of the Cuban Information and Communications Corporation, Ariadne Plascencia Castro, emphasized the importance of SocIA as a “technological sovereignty ” platform, developed entirely domestically to serve the growing need for AI in society.

She affirmed that SocIA is an inevitable step in the national digital transformation, helping Cuba to be self-reliant in providing modern AI solutions without depending on foreign technology.

The project's technical lead, Vicente Garófalo Jerez, said SocIA is a flexible platform capable of handling data types such as text, audio and video simultaneously, with the ability to integrate with Avangenio's other in-house solutions such as NosWork - a virtual office, and ERPNext - a business management system developed by the same company.

SocIA can be used on any type of electronic device, from phones, tablets to personal computers, and supports tasks such as automating work, analyzing data, composing emails and executing intelligent commands according to specific contexts. A special feature is that the system allows the creation of personalized AI agents for each user or organization, helping to improve work efficiency and adaptability.

Meanwhile, Avangenio's Head of AI Strategy, Alain Abel Garófalo, said SocIA is a flexible AI platform that can sync with each organization's unique needs, creating "optimal synergy in decision-making and work execution."

SocIA is currently offered in three main service packages, including basic, group and enterprise packages, each of which meets different needs from individuals to large organizations, with the ability to scale and customize on demand.

At the launch event, experts in the fields of science, culture and education discussed the potential applications of SocIA. This platform is assessed to be able to serve both natural and social sciences well, thanks to its ability to customize and process diverse information.

SocIA is an important effort by Cuba to build an independent technology platform, promote digital transformation and open up many opportunities for AI application in essential fields of the country./.
