According to the decision to inspect the ticket sales, declaration, and price listing activities of Vietnamese airlines issued by the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the inspection team consists of 10 people led by Mr. Do Hong Cam - Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority - as the team leader.
The inspection period is 3 working days, from May 7th to 9th, 2024. The inspection covers the ticket sales, declaration, and price listing activities of Vietnamese airlines from January 1st, 2024 to the date of issuance of the decision (May 4th).
Previously, on May 3rd, the Minister of Transport issued a document requesting the Transport Department and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to investigate and review the situation of rising domestic airfares.
The official document from the Minister of Transport clearly states that recently, the price of air tickets from domestic airlines has increased significantly, directly affecting people's travel needs, especially during peak periods such as the recent April 30th and May 1st holidays.
The Ministry of Transport has requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to urgently review and inspect ticket sales practices, ensure price declaration and listing, and publicly and transparently disclose information on airfare prices of airlines.
In case of detecting any irregularities, promptly direct, correct, and handle violations within the scope of authority (if any). Simultaneously, organize inspections and audits of ticket sales, price declarations, and price listings by airlines, absolutely preventing any illegal price increases.
The Transport Department proactively monitors and promptly advises the Ministry to direct agencies and units to strengthen inspection of transport operations and passenger services, enhance solutions to best serve the travel needs of the people, stabilize ticket prices, and prevent illegal price increases, especially during the upcoming peak summer season, based on the principle of harmonizing the interests and rights of businesses and the needs of the people.
The Minister of Transport requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Transport Department to urgently implement the plan and report to the Ministry before May 10, 2024.
