On the morning of December 29th, the Ha Nam Provincial Statistics Department held a press conference to announce the province's socio -economic statistics for 2023. Attendees included representatives from provincial media outlets; resident correspondents of central media agencies based in the province; and representatives from relevant departments and agencies.

According to the report, the province's socio-economic situation in 2023 remained basically stable and developed. Regarding the economic situation, the province's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2023 (at 2010 constant prices) is estimated at VND 50,201.9 billion, an increase of 9.41% compared to 2022, ranking 5th in the Red River Delta region and 8th nationwide.

Assessing the province's GRDP growth results in 2023, the industrial, processing, and manufacturing sector accounted for 52.6% of the province's GRDP, increasing by 13.3%, a lower growth rate than in 2022 (16.69%); the construction sector achieved a growth rate of 7.36%, higher than in 2022 (6.33%); the service sectors, after the Covid-19 pandemic, are on the path to recovery and have a fairly high growth rate…

The province's economic structure in 2023 continued to shift towards increasing the proportion of the industry and construction sector and decreasing the proportion of the agriculture and service sectors. Specifically, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector accounted for 7.3%, a decrease of 0.8% compared to 2022; the industry and construction sector accounted for 64.1%, an increase of 1.5%; the service sector accounted for 23%, a decrease of 0.4%; and product taxes less product subsidies accounted for 5.9%, a decrease of 0.4%. Agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production remained basically stable, with an estimated value of VND 8,540.3 billion, an increase of 1.2% compared to 2022; the province's industrial production maintained a relatively high growth rate, with an estimated production value of VND 201,712.9 billion, an increase of 14.8% compared to 2022. As of December 15, 2023, the province had 760 newly registered businesses, with a total registered capital of VND 9,191.2 billion, a decrease of 2.2% in the number of businesses and a decrease of 12.6% in registered capital compared to the same period in 2022; State budget revenue in 2023 is estimated at VND 13,454 billion, reaching 100% of the annual plan; Trade and service activities in the province in 2023 achieved many positive results with total retail sales of goods and service revenue estimated at VND 47,428.5 billion, an increase of 15% compared to 2022…

Regarding social issues in 2023, the province's average population is estimated at 885,914 people, an increase of 0.9% compared to the average population in 2022, equivalent to 7,862 people. Employment figures show that the number of employed people aged 15 and over in the province is estimated at 477,341, accounting for 53.9% of the total provincial population, an increase of 0.4% compared to 2022; average monthly income per capita reached over 5.1 million VND, an increase of 7.1% compared to 2022 (over 6 million VND in urban areas, over 4.7 million VND in rural areas); the percentage of households with average monthly income below the poverty line in 2023 is 2.28%; the poverty rate is 2.11%, a reduction of 0.58%... The total number of schools meeting national standards in the province is 359, reaching a rate of 99.45%...

To fulfill the socio-economic development tasks for 2024, the Provincial Statistics Department proposes several solutions: Focus on mobilizing resources and investing in completing a synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure system; Strengthen the attraction and improve the efficiency of investment by attracting large corporations with strong capital, technology, and brand potential that contribute significantly to the provincial budget; Continue to focus on reviewing and promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles for businesses, creating opportunities and stabilizing jobs for workers; Continue to implement mechanisms and policies to support the acceleration of agricultural industrialization; Accelerate the investment progress of key projects in the trade and service sectors; Focus on implementing comprehensive solutions for budget revenue management; Promote the socialization of cultural and sports fields, effectively implement social security policies, and education and training activities; proactively prevent and control diseases, and protect and care for the health of the people.
