Creating a ripple effect, bringing back the blue sea.
From early morning on June 8th, beaches and estuaries along the length of the country were bustling with the presence of thousands of volunteers who weaved through every rocky shore and sandy beach to collect every piece of trash, contributing to restoring the pristine beauty of their homeland's seas.
Volunteer Nguyen Ha Minh Nguyen (from the Youth Union of Vinh Phuong commune, Nha Trang) shared: “Participating in the campaign, I feel proud to be part of the movement to keep our homeland's seas and islands green, clean, beautiful, and sustainably developed.”
At each location, the large presence of local organizations, students, business employees, etc., transformed the campaign into a true "green festival." In particular, in Hai Phong , a group of students from Vinschool Imperia chose to start their summer vacation in a meaningful way: cleaning up trash to protect the sea. "I was surprised to see such a large amount of trash. It made me realize that even small daily actions like using plastic bottles can have big consequences," shared student Nguyen Thanh Hai (class 9A4).
More than just a simple cleanup, the campaign is a powerful reminder of responsible consumption habits and environmental protection.
Ms. Ho Huong Giang, a teacher at Binh Khanh High School and a volunteer in Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City, said: “The campaign has truly impacted my awareness of learning to live greener and more responsibly. I think we need to change our habits first; we need to limit the use of single-use plastic bottles and instead use personal water bottles.”

After nearly two hours, dozens of tons of waste were neatly collected, restoring the beauty and cleanliness of the beaches. “Seeing the beach cleaner and more beautiful after the cleanup, I feel happy and proud. Thank you to the Foundation for a Green Future for launching this program so that young people like us have the opportunity to work together to clean up and build a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful environment,” shared Nguyen Van Anh, a volunteer in Hai Phong.
Nurturing "green seeds" for future generations.
The "Act Together for a Blue Sea" campaign has truly unleashed the power of the community. Each participant is not only a volunteer, but also a "green nucleus" - someone who inspires their family, friends, and society.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha (Vinhomes Grand Park, Ho Chi Minh City) expressed: “I hope that not only June 8th, but every day will be a day of action for the environment. Just by changing small things like using personal water bottles, disposing of trash properly, or limiting the use of plastic bags, we can make a big contribution to the environment.”
| Nearly 72 tons of trash were collected in just over an hour of the campaign. |
Following the campaign's updates regularly via the Green Future Foundation's Facebook page, Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc (Hanoi University of Water Resources) highly praised the campaign's practicality, reach, and educational value: “The campaign doesn't just stop at short-term results. It's the 'catalyst' creating a wave of sustainable action nationwide.”
According to the expert, you don't need to live by the coast to take action for a clean ocean. Simply by changing individual awareness, small consumer behaviors, such as reducing plastic use, will contribute to minimizing microplastics in the ocean. Professor Cúc stated that plastic waste is a global threat, seriously affecting the landscape, marine ecosystems, and food chain, thereby negatively impacting human health and life.
Therefore, according to her, more campaigns like "Acting Together for a Blue Sea" are needed because their effectiveness doesn't just stop at the point of completion, but will continue to spread and leave lasting value in the future. Each volunteer will become a "green nucleus," inspiring friends, colleagues, and family.
"Through a single action, they can lead their community to positive and sustainable change," Professor Cúc emphasized.
| This campaign is the first step in a journey to educate society as a whole, to build a generation that appreciates and acts for the sake of nature. |
The Green Future Fund, established by Vingroup on July 7, 2023, has the mission of contributing to the Government's goal of reducing net emissions to "zero" by 2050. The fund promotes green initiatives in daily life, raises community awareness, and calls on each individual to act today to protect the environment through large-scale community activities, such as the "Green Wednesday" campaign with a series of promotional programs from Vingroup's member and affiliated companies, the Green Summer Campaign 2024 with the participation of more than 30 schools and institutes and 7,000 young volunteers, and the "Green Voice" and "Sending a Green Future 2050" competitions for students from primary to high school, attracting nearly 23,000 participants and reaching hundreds of schools in 61 provinces and cities nationwide. |
