From April 10th, railway transport companies have reduced passenger ticket prices by 5% and freight rates by 5%.
According to the latest report on the impact assessment of the Middle East conflict by the Ministry of Construction , regarding railway transport: as of 3:30 PM on April 9th, the price of Diesel 0.05S decreased by 23% compared to the price on April 8th; however, the current price of 32,960 VND/liter (excluding VAT) is still very high compared to the price on February 20th (16,836 VND/liter), representing a 95.8% increase in oil price.
Rail freight rates will be reduced by 5% starting April 10th.
To ensure transportation safety, transport businesses must stockpile fuel sufficient for at least 3 days of service, so the fuel price reduction has not yet impacted the cost of providing transportation services.

Thus, compared to ticket prices before the escalation of the Middle East conflict, the increase in passenger train fares was only 13% and freight rates were only 22% for all routes.
Increased train services during holidays, discounted tickets for students.
Amidst rising energy prices, the Vietnam Railway Transport Corporation announced that from April 24th to May 3rd, the railway sector will increase the number of passenger trains on various routes to meet the increased travel demand during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the April 30th - May 1st holidays. At the same time, the railway will continue to apply discounted fares for eligible social and policy beneficiaries.
On the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, in addition to the 5 pairs of Thong Nhat trains running regularly every day, an additional pair of trains, SE11/SE12, will be operated. Specifically, train SE12 will depart from Saigon station on April 24, 25, 28, and 29; train SE11 will depart from Hanoi station on April 26, 27, 30, and May 1, 2026.
Many regional train routes have also had additional trains added, such as Saigon - Quy Nhon, Saigon - Nha Trang, Saigon - Phan Thiet, and Hanoi - Da Nang .
The Hanoi - Lao Cai route operates 3 pairs of trains daily. The Hanoi - Hai Phong route runs 4 pairs of trains daily, with an additional 6 trips and extra carriages added to increase service capacity. The Da Lat - Trai Mat route has added the DL5/6 train pair.
During this holiday period, the railway continues to apply discount policies for eligible social groups. Accordingly, there is a 90% discount on tickets for those who participated in revolutionary activities before the August 19, 1945 General Uprising, and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; a 30% discount for those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution; a 30% discount for people with severe and profound disabilities (including foreigners); and a 15% discount for senior citizens aged 60 and above.
Children under 6 years old travel free on trains when accompanied by an adult and sharing a seat with the adult. Each adult passenger ticket allows only one free child; for the second child and subsequent children, a child's ticket must be purchased. A 25% discount is offered on train tickets for children aged 6 to under 10 years old who are Vietnamese citizens.
10% discount on tickets for students (Vietnamese citizens currently studying at vocational schools; professional secondary schools; colleges, universities, and academies in Vietnam). This discount does not apply to postgraduate students or trainees.
