According to Ms. Lan, the success in mobilizing and consolidating resources and the COVID-19 vaccination campaign linked to the Vaccine Fund are two crucial factors that have significantly contributed to controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and restoring and developing the country's socio -economic development.
Speaking about the limitations, the Minister of Health stated that the biggest reason remains the extremely complex, unpredictable, and unprecedented nature of the Covid-19 pandemic both globally and domestically.

Sharing the delegates' proposal to reclassify Covid-19 from a Group A disease to a Group B disease, Minister Lan stated that on May 5th, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that Covid-19 was no longer a public health emergency of global concern, but the pandemic is not yet over.
Following the direction of the Prime Minister, and drawing on international experience and Vietnamese practice, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with other ministries and agencies, has developed a dossier to reclassify infectious diseases from Group A to Group B.
"In preparation for declaring the end of the Covid-19 epidemic based on the regulations of the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, it is expected that this weekend, the Prime Minister will chair a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control, focusing on discussing related issues," Ms. Lan said.
The Ministry of Health has also developed a sustainable control and management plan for the Covid-19 pandemic and proposed including the Covid-19 vaccine in the routine immunization program as recommended by the WHO.
Regarding solutions to overcome difficulties in procurement and ensure the supply of equipment and biological products, the leaders of the Ministry of Health said that the Government has directed the issuance of many documents and submitted resolutions to the National Assembly to resolve difficulties and obstacles in the procurement and bidding of chemicals, biological products, medical supplies, and equipment.
In addition, to fundamentally address the shortage of medicines and medical equipment, the Government has directed ministries and agencies to submit the Law on Bidding and the Law on Pricing to the National Assembly. The Ministry of Health is also finalizing documents to submit the amended Law on Pharmaceuticals, the Law on Health Insurance, the Law on Disease Prevention, etc.
Regarding primary healthcare and preventive medicine policies, the Minister of Health stated that in 2018, the WHO recognized Vietnam as one of the few countries with a complete primary healthcare network, organized extensively down to the village level, and a model that many countries around the world are interested in and learning from. This primary healthcare network is key to making Vietnam a shining example of public health, with health indicators higher than other countries at a similar level of development.
To implement the directives of the Central Party Secretariat, the Ministry of Health has completed the dossier on drafting a directive on the development of grassroots healthcare in the new context, focusing on how to serve the needs of strengthening and consolidating the grassroots healthcare and preventive medicine systems. This dossier is also being prepared for submission to the Central Party Secretariat for meeting and approval in June, with many contents related to the organizational structure model, implementation mechanisms, etc.
