The Dien Bien Phu City Veterans Association has 3,147 members, operating in 14 branches. Recognizing the importance of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, the City Veterans Association developed a program and plan at the beginning of the year to implement it in its grassroots organizations and concretized the ethical standards for veterans according to Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style. The Association organized registration for emulation, commendation, and awards for outstanding collectives and individuals in implementing Directive 05 of the Politburo . Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings is included as one of the criteria for evaluating and ranking emulation at all levels of the Association. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ninh, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien Phu City Veterans Association. Dien Bien Phu reported: Along with strengthening propaganda, the City Veterans Association directs its branches at all levels to include in their annual work plans the content and targets for implementation through specific actions linked to the emulation movements "Exemplary Veterans," "Veterans Helping Each Other Develop the Economy," organizing activities of camaraderie and mutual support, and paying attention to helping members resolve policy issues... This includes encouraging members to uphold the spirit of self-reliance and self-improvement, overcoming difficulties to escape poverty and achieve legitimate wealth; creating conditions for members to access and effectively utilize loan capital (the association manages outstanding loans of over 7 billion VND for 100 members borrowed from the Social Policy Bank). Currently, the entire association has 15 members who own businesses, 1 company, and 271 successful economic models with incomes exceeding 100 million VND/year. These businesses provide stable employment for more than 1,000 workers with incomes ranging from 3 to 5 million VND/month. The entire association no longer has members from poor or near-poor households. In addition, members actively educate the younger generation about revolutionary traditions, cooperate in maintaining security and order, and ensure traffic safety...
The Veterans Association of Him Lam Ward is a prime example of learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings. The ward's Veterans Association branches have demonstrated this through concrete and practical actions, such as actively participating in economic development and poverty reduction; mobilizing members to participate in the "self-managed environmental protection team" and "self-managed road" models in groups 9, 14, and 23. The Association collaborates with other organizations to encourage members' families and the public to actively participate in the "All People Protect National Security" movement, and has mobilized 100% of members' families and the public to sign commitments to practice a civilized lifestyle and build cultured families. The Association has participated in resolving many issues, such as land clearance (60m road project), resolving issues related to policies and regulations, and resolving conflicts among the people... These efforts have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party Committee, the government, and the people. The association has 57 members who have developed their businesses with various models of farm and household livestock breeding, business, and integrated services, generating incomes exceeding 150 million VND per year and creating stable jobs for hundreds of workers with incomes of 4-5 million VND per month.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thao, Chairman of the Veterans Association of Him Lam Ward, said: The association has 414 members, operating in 21 branches. Each veteran in the ward upholds the spirit of exemplary conduct and takes the lead in performing their duties. They always strictly abide by the regulations of the Party and the State, encourage their families and descendants to practice a civilized lifestyle in the residential area, and educate their children and grandchildren to avoid social vices...
Through numerous concrete actions in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, 100% of the Association's branches and 98% of its sub-branches achieve the "clean and strong" status annually; 98% of members receive the title of "Exemplary Veteran," and 97% of members' families achieve the "Culturally Advanced Family" title. In 2022, the Dien Bien Phu City Veterans Association received many commendations and certificates of merit from various levels and sectors, and the Central Veterans Association awarded a Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievements in the "Exemplary Veteran" movement. Many collectives and individuals of the city's Veterans Association were praised and rewarded for their achievements and contributions to the province's emulation movements.
