At noon on March 8, the leader of the People's Committee of Cua Viet town, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province confirmed that a 16-year-old girl was saved after jumping off Cua Viet bridge in the locality.
Accordingly, the incident occurred in the morning of the same day. At around 9am, local people discovered a young girl suddenly jumping off Cua Viet bridge, connecting Cua Viet town with Trieu An commune (Trieu Phong district).
The girl was in a state of confusion when she fell into the water in the cold but was still alive so people on the bridge called for help.
Luckily, at that time, a local fishing boat was passing by the area and was able to rescue the girl and bring her to shore. When she was rescued, the girl was still quite conscious.
The girl was then taken to a medical facility for medical care.
It is known that the girl's name is TTT, 16 years old, living in Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district. Before committing suicide, T. left a letter of apology to her family.
The girl’s story was quickly shared on social media. Many people congratulated her and her family on their luck in meeting a passing boat and on International Women’s Day, March 8. Many advised her to think carefully so as not to worry her family.
