On December 11, Binh Dinh General Hospital announced that it had successfully treated an 11-year-old boy with multiple serious injuries caused by a battery explosion.
The boy who was just rescued is Huynh Tan P. (in Phu My district, Binh Dinh). The patient was brought to the hospital by his family at 8:15 a.m. on November 30, in a state of multiple trauma shock due to blood loss, with a deep and severe wound in the lower rib area, along with wounds on the right hand, chest wall, abdomen, etc.
According to family members, that same morning, P. was curious and removed the battery of a broken headlamp and poured 502 glue into the battery. Unfortunately, the battery exploded, causing injuries.
Binh Dinh General Hospital mobilized doctors from the departments of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, General Surgery and Trauma Surgery to form a surgical team and handle the situation quickly.
Doctors treated the 800ml of blood in the abdomen, the wounds in the abdomen and ribs, removed small pieces of battery, cleaned the abdomen, and transfused blood...
Directly participating in the team, Dr. Phan Xuan Canh (Department of General Surgery) said that this is a rare accident, very life-threatening and can cause death if the child is not given timely emergency care.
According to Dr. Canh, it is possible that children with hyperactivity, curiosity or imitating on the internet cause such actions.
After surgery and intensive treatment, P.'s health is now stable and he can be discharged from the hospital.
