The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of the M3 motorway, near the Minley interchange in Hampshire, at approximately 9:00 a.m. local time on May 28.
The Lamborghini driven by the former England player crashed into a barrier. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved and no one was injured.

However, the events following the accident made the situation particularly serious. Hampshire police said the 31-year-old driver from Berkshire was arrested for investigation on four counts: driving under the influence of a prohibited substance, dangerous driving, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to provide a requested test sample.
The former Man City star was subsequently released on bail while police continued their investigation. No final conclusion has been reached regarding the matter.
The future of the 31-year-old winger will largely depend on the outcome of the police investigation.
The incident comes amid a significant decline in Sterling's career recently. He currently plays for Feyenoord in the Dutch league, having left Chelsea in February.
The winger, born in 1994, was once one of the most outstanding attacking stars in English football. Sterling joined the Liverpool academy from Queens Park Rangers in 2010 at the age of 15, and quickly made his mark at Anfield.
Following a contract dispute, he moved to Manchester City in 2015 and entered the most brilliant phase of his career. While playing for the Etihad Stadium club, Sterling won four Premier League titles, five League Cups, and one FA Cup.

However, his career didn't go as smoothly after leaving Man City. Sterling failed to make the impact expected at Chelsea, before enduring an unremarkable loan spell at Arsenal.
Leaving Stamford Bridge for Feyenoord marks a significant step backward for a player who spent many years competing at the highest level of the Premier League.
At the international level, Sterling has 82 caps for England and has scored 20 goals. He was a key player in periods when the England team progressed deep into many major tournaments.
A source close to Sterling suggests that being gradually forgotten after years of playing at the highest level has put immense psychological pressure on him.
