In June 2026, the box office saw the release of four Vietnamese films: *Ma Xó* (directed by Phan Bá Hỷ, released on June 5th), *Ốc Thuê Hồn* (directed by Đinh Tuấn Vũ, released on June 5th), *Lầu Chú Hỏa* (directed by Hùng Trần, released on June 12th), and *Mesdames Thanh Sắc* (directed by Thắng Vũ, released on June 19th).

According to the information released, the four projects have their own distinct styles and explore different themes, offering audiences a wide range of choices.

In particular, "Ma Xó" approaches the horror theme from a real-life perspective, reflecting family tragedies, the helplessness and despair of people pushed to the brink. The film features a cast including Lê Khánh, Hạnh Thúy, Avin Lu, Tín Nguyễn... " Lầu chú Hỏa" is inspired by anecdotes surrounding the Hứa Bổn Hỏa family - one of the wealthiest families in Chợ Lớn in the early 20th century. While lacking "box office stars," " Lầu chú Hỏa " is expected to offer something fresh through the style of a young director (who participated in the first season of the Vietnamese short film competition in 2024) and a cast including Trần Kỳ Anh, Nguyễn Minh Thời, Nguyễn Công Nương…

Director Dinh Tuan Vu's film "The Hermit Crab " has piqued the curiosity of many, marking the return of Miss Vietnam Tieu Vy after the success of "The Four Conspiracies" . In addition, the film also features familiar faces such as Quoc Truong.

Pham Anh… along with new talents such as musician Nguyen Van Chung, Yen Dan… Choosing to explore the theme of marriage with many dramatic plot twists, the film also arouses curiosity by "unveiling" the hidden aspects of the showbiz environment.

Meanwhile, the appeal of *Mesdames Thanh Sắc* is equally strong, featuring a star-studded cast including Thanh Hằng, Hồng Ánh, Lương Thế Thành… Inspired by a real event in old Saigon, the film doesn't just explore a simple love triangle, but also paints a picture of a harsh society where every choice has a price.

Besides the return of directors Dinh Tuan Vu and Thang Vu, the other two films mark the debut of new faces. This creates diversity in the Vietnamese film projects launching in June 2026. Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong, representative of Box Office Vietnam, shared: "I have noticed that Vietnamese audiences really love Vietnamese films, although I must admit that sometimes foreign films are far ahead of us. Vietnamese people always have a great affection for domestic works because of their familiarity."

Regarding the opportunities for horror films, especially with recent releases like "Possessed 2," "Phi Phong: Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest ," and "Five-Toed Pig" surpassing 100 billion VND in revenue, Box Office Vietnam noted that this genre typically has relatively low production costs, and if it resonates with viewers, it can generate good revenue. "Therefore, it's not surprising that Vietnamese filmmakers choose horror as their theme. I think audiences still want to go to the cinema to watch horror films," shared Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong.
