Bustling early summer
The two facilities of the Da Nang Children's Palace in Tam Ky ward and Hoa Cuong ward are busier in the early days of summer. These are reputable and reliable locations that many parents choose for their children's sports and recreation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Nhan, Director of the Da Nang Children's Palace, this summer the unit is organizing 30 talent-based activities, including many attractive sports such as chess, badminton, basketball, table tennis, and pickleball. Besides creating an engaging sports playground, the Da Nang Children's Palace aims to cultivate life skills, critical thinking, and agility in children through sports activities.
In the chess class, many children attentively listen as the coach explains each move. For the third consecutive summer attending this intellectual sport, Hoang Khanh Ngan shared: “The chess class at the Da Nang Children's Palace always takes place in a fun atmosphere, which is what makes me enjoy enrolling every summer. I will attend regularly to improve my skills and hone my thinking abilities and concentration.”
Swimming is also one of the attractive sports that draws many students. According to the plan, this summer, the Da Nang Children's Palace will organize swimming lessons for more than 1,000 students.
In addition, the Da Nang Children's Palace, in collaboration with other organizations, opened two free swimming classes at two locations for 200 underprivileged students. Recently, the swimming class at the first location in Hoa Cuong ward commenced with great enthusiasm from the children.
During the swimming class, the children were introduced to swimming, taught basic swimming techniques such as breaststroke and freestyle, and trained in rescue and escape skills in the water. Having just completed his first swimming lesson, Tran Hoang Phuc (from Hai Chau ward) confided: “I am very happy to participate in the swimming class. I hope that through this class I will learn to swim and meet and make new friends.”
According to Mr. Nhan, the free swimming lessons at the Tam Ky ward facility will open on June 2nd. Through this activity, the Da Nang Children's Palace hopes to bring a meaningful summer, raising awareness and skills in preventing drowning among children.
