Kim Cuc Intersection, Da Lat City |
This is a solution applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which has been effectively applied in many countries around the world and some major cities in Vietnam.
Accordingly, Da Lat City currently has 15 intersections with traffic light control systems, mainly concentrated in the central area and main roads. However, this system still has some limitations such as: Lack of synchronization, not connected to a control center, difficult to adapt flexibly to actual traffic density, especially during rush hour, weekends, holidays or peak tourist season. In addition, the existing system has not integrated recording devices, traffic signal analysis or support for administrative violation handling. Some frequent traffic jam hotspots include University 5-way intersection (Dinh Tien Hoang) and Kim Cuc 4-way intersection (Dinh 2).
The deployment of the intelligent traffic signal control system (ITS) at key intersections of Da Lat city - Dinh Tien Hoang intersection (University 5-way intersection) and Dinh 2 intersection (Kim Cuc 4-way intersection) is an urgent need, to increase the efficiency of regulation, contribute to reducing congestion and serve the orientation of building a smart traffic control center of Da Lat city in the future.
This solution applies AI technology, does not interfere with the existing system, can be installed in parallel, is easy to disassemble and does not use the state budget during the testing phase. The testing period is expected to be from 30 to 60 days, with all costs covered by VNPT Lam Dong.
It is known that currently, some cities in the country have deployed ITS on a large scale and have shown clear effectiveness in traffic regulation. Typically, Ho Chi Minh City has applied the system at more than 500 key traffic points, reducing traffic congestion in the inner city by 15-20%; Hanoi has begun testing ITS in key traffic areas since the beginning of 2025. In Da Nang, ITS has been deployed to help reduce waiting time at traffic lights by about 10-15%. The port city of Hai Phong has also completed the installation of the first ITS system in May 2025, increasing cargo transportation efficiency by 25% in the port area.
According to the leader of Da Lat city, after the trial period, the City People's Committee will synthesize, report and evaluate specifically to serve as a basis for considering the official implementation or expansion of this solution.
