DNO - On the morning of January 1st, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, and Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, organized a welcoming ceremony for the first domestic and international tourists arriving in Da Nang for the 2024 New Year holiday.

On the first day of the new year 2024, Da Nang International Airport welcomed 112 domestic and international flights, with an estimated 15,500 passengers, including 50 international flights with an estimated 7,500 passengers. The Department of Tourism organized a welcoming ceremony for 3 flights arriving in Da Nang.
Specifically, at the domestic arrival terminal, Vietnam Airlines operated flight VN 157, bringing 140 passengers from Hanoi to Da Nang. At the international arrival terminal, Vietjet flight VJ881 brought 140 passengers from Incheon (South Korea) to Da Nang.
Later that same day, Vietnam Airlines flight VN319 from Narita (Japan) to Da Nang brought 154 Japanese passengers to Da Nang.

The welcoming ceremony included artistic performances, the presentation of flowers, gifts, and conical hats to passengers, and the awarding of airline ticket vouchers to lucky passengers.

As one of the passengers on the first flight to Da Nang for the 2024 New Year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, a tourist from My Tho (Tien Giang province), felt very excited to be warmly welcomed at Da Nang airport.
During their stay in Da Nang, her family will visit various attractions and enjoy the atmosphere of the New Year.

Visiting Da Nang for the first time on New Year's Day, Lee Bong Soo's family (Korean nationality) will spend about a week on vacation visiting Da Nang's famous attractions.
He shared that he had heard many recommendations about Da Nang from friends and relatives, including tourist attractions like Sun World Ba Na Hills, Da Nang beach, and its seafood dishes, so he and his family were very excited to experience this trip.
Reportedly, in 2023, air travel remained the main source of tourists for Da Nang, with 40,000 flights, estimated to bring in over 6.3 million visitors, a 1.42-fold increase compared to 2022 and an 81.2% recovery compared to 2019.

International direct flights have resumed recently, accelerating the recovery of tourism in Da Nang.
As of the end of 2023, the international airport operated 7 domestic routes with an average frequency of 51 flights/day and 16 international routes with a frequency of 49 flights/day.
According to Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the positive signals from flights to Da Nang on the first day of the new year 2024 promise to open a new chapter with much excitement and expectations for a stronger recovery of tourism.
During the three-day New Year's holiday alone, the city had nearly 450 international and domestic flights, a 10% increase compared to last year.
This shows that Da Nang is a favorite destination for both domestic and international tourists. Along with many activities organized during this period and the Lunar New Year, the tourism industry expects the city's tourism to experience even stronger growth in 2024.
“The biggest goal for Da Nang tourism in 2024 is to welcome 8.43 million visitors. Therefore, in 2024, the city's tourism industry has many plans to promote and connect with more international tourist markets, expand flight routes, and further diversify both markets and product types to attract visitors,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An shared.
