Previously, heavy rains and floods in November 2025 swept away the Phu Kien wooden bridge. For more than a month, residents in Xuan Ngoc, Hon Nghe 1, and Hon Nghe 2 residential areas have had to take their children to Vinh Ngoc Primary School and Cao Thang Secondary School via a roundabout route, wasting a lot of time. On December 23, 2025, the People's Committee of Tay Nha Trang Ward agreed to provide transportation and personnel to take students across the Cai River while waiting for the Phu Kien wooden bridge to be rebuilt and put back into operation.

This bridge was built by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuan (a local resident) for the benefit of the people starting in 2001, and he charges a fee for its use. For nearly 25 years, this wooden bridge has been a vital link for thousands of households in Xuan Ngoc, Hon Nghe 1, and Hon Nghe 2 residential areas, and for the people of Nha Trang in general. Every rainy season, the wooden bridge is either swept away or dismantled by Mr. Thuan.
Recently, the Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision approving the Phu Kien Bridge Project and assigned the Provincial Development Project Management Board as the investor. The bridge has a length of 271.2m, of which the main bridge is approximately 200m long. According to the design, the bridge has a width of 21m, the approach bridge is 18m wide, the main bridge has 2 self-anchored suspension spans, the bridge girders are made of reinforced concrete box girders, and the approach bridge has 4 reinforced concrete slab girder spans... The northern bridgehead intersection (on Hon Nghe village side) and the southern bridgehead intersection (on Luong Dinh Cua road side) are designed to ensure safety and good drainage in the area and the connected roads. The total investment for the construction of the Phu Kien Bridge is approximately 600 billion VND. Currently, the Provincial Development Project Management Board is completing the procedures to start construction of this project in the fourth quarter of 2026.
