In response to the damage caused by storm No. 10 (Bualoi), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) has just announced a special support program for students in areas directly affected by natural disasters in 2025.

Three key policies implemented include: reducing tuition fees, providing support scholarships and extending tuition payment deadlines.

10% tuition reduction for nearly 3,000 students in 19 provinces and cities amid storm No. 10

Full-time university students of courses 48, 49, 50 and 51 of UEH with permanent residence in 19 localities affected by storm No. 10 will receive a 10% reduction in tuition fees for the final semester of 2025.

This amount will be deducted from the tuition fee for the first semester of 2026. For students of the 48th class who have graduated, the support will be transferred directly to their personal accounts.

The list of provinces and cities enjoying this policy of UEH includes: Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Ninh Binh, Hue, Son La, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hanoi , Hai Phong, Hung Yen and Da Nang.

More than 1.35 billion VND in scholarships to support disadvantaged students

In addition to the tuition reduction policy, UEH will also award 100 scholarships, worth more than 1.35 billion VND in total. Of these, 70 scholarships worth more than 14 million VND each are for full-time university students, and 30 scholarships worth 12 million VND each are for full-time transfer students, first-degree students, and part-time transfer students.

Conditions for scholarship consideration are based on the following criteria: students whose family circumstances are difficult due to the impact of storms and floods; have not received a scholarship of equivalent value and a scholarship to support storms, floods, and natural disasters from UEH; have not been disciplined at the level of reprimand or higher during the scholarship consideration semester.

Students can register online from October 6 to October 23, and submit paper applications from October 27 to October 31 at the Student Care Department - UEH Campus B, to be considered for scholarships.

Tuition payment extension until mid-January 2026

In addition, UEH also decided to extend the deadline for paying tuition fees for the first semester of 2026 to January 15, 2026 for all students in the 19 above-mentioned provinces and cities, in order to reduce financial pressure on families during the difficult post-disaster period.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director in charge of UEH - shared: "With a total expected resource of up to 7 billion VND, the program not only supports students to overcome immediate difficulties caused by natural disasters, but also affirms UEH's long-term commitment to building a sustainable, fair and humane learning environment."
