Thai Nguyen University establishes a branch campus in Dien Bien.

On February 6th, Thai Nguyen University held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish a branch campus in Dien Bien province. This event marks a strategic step in expanding its training scope, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources for the locality and the Northwest region.

The branch campus of Thai Nguyen University in Dien Bien province was established through the merger of Dien Bien Teacher Training College and Dien Bien Medical College. On this occasion, Thai Nguyen University also announced the appointments of the Director and Deputy Director of the branch campus.

Associate Professor Hoang Van Hung, Director of Thai Nguyen University, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao – Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) highly appreciated the role of Thai Nguyen University in developing higher education for the people and students of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region. According to him, the establishment of the branch campus is an important milestone in the process of reforming and expanding the higher education network, contributing to creating a local workforce for the area.

Leveraging its strengths in multidisciplinary and multi-field training, the Thai Nguyen University branch in Dien Bien province plans to offer programs in areas such as: Primary Education, Preschool Education, Nursing, Agricultural Technology, and Thai Language (Thai-Lao Language program). Simultaneously, the branch will continue to offer two college-level programs: Preschool Education and Nursing; and three vocational programs: Nursing, General Practitioner, and Pharmacy. Member universities of Thai Nguyen University may also establish undergraduate and master's degree programs at the branch to meet the practical needs of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Hoang Van Hung, Director of Thai Nguyen University, affirmed that the establishment of the branch campus in Dien Bien province is an important milestone in the development and innovation process of Thai Nguyen University, demonstrating the role and responsibility of the university towards the higher education cause of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region.

Associate Professor Hoang Van Hung stated that for over 30 years, Thai Nguyen University has consistently fulfilled its mission of training high-level human resources, developing talent, conducting scientific research, promoting innovation, transferring knowledge, and serving society; while also playing a key role in regional linkages and supporting socio-economic development in the northern midland and mountainous regions.

Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students.

Currently, Thai Nguyen University has 14 training units, including 7 universities, 1 college, the School of Foreign Languages, the International Faculty, 3 university branches in Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang and Dien Bien provinces, 1 institute for excellent training and research; along with 12 service centers supporting training and scientific research, and 1 publishing house.

As part of the program, the leaders of Thai Nguyen University awarded 20 scholarships to outstanding students of Dien Bien Teacher Training College and Dien Bien Medical College.
