In just a few minutes, from Thang Long Boulevard, a line of vehicles will orderly transport the distinguished delegates representing over 5.6 million Party members nationwide to the National Convention Center to begin the 14th National Congress of the Party. A new chapter in the country's development will commence.
An atmosphere of solemnity and confidence enveloped the National Convention Center. Decisive footsteps, warm handshakes, and expectant glances filled the air. 1,586 delegates from all corners of the country gathered here, bringing with them the wisdom, will, and aspirations of the entire Party. The 14th National Congress, guided by the motto "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development," will discuss and decide on crucial issues, setting strategic directions for the next five years and for a new era for the nation.
The Congress is being held in a special context. The world is changing rapidly and unpredictably, while domestically, many enormous tasks are being undertaken. These include the streamlining of the administrative apparatus, the consolidation of many localities, and the implementation of a two-tiered local government system to expand development space, optimize resources for rapid, sustainable growth, and to be closer to the people. It is in this context that the 14th Congress is expected to formulate important strategies, creating a solid foundation for the road ahead.
Feeling the momentum of the 14th National Congress, our belief in its success is further strengthened. This belief is built upon the very concrete achievements of the 13th National Congress, a term that began with an unprecedented "test": the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, global inflation, and geopolitical conflicts. But with resilience and wisdom, the Party led the country through "headwinds" and overcame difficulties.
By 2025, GDP growth is projected at 8.02%, the economy will reach US$514 billion, and per capita income will reach US$5,026. Significantly, the revolution in streamlining the administrative apparatus has eliminated intermediate layers, drastically reduced the number of departments, and saved approximately VND 39 trillion in recurrent expenditures annually, which will be allocated to development investment and social welfare. These figures are not just achievements, but also the foundation upon which the 14th National Congress will plan for the future!
These results further affirm the correct path chosen by our Party and people. The report summarizing some theoretical and practical issues of the socialist-oriented renovation process in Vietnam over the past 40 years, presented in the documents submitted to the Congress, clearly demonstrates this. Looking back over four decades, this is not only a scientific summary but also an affirmation of the path that has led Vietnam from poverty to a new position. This achievement provides a foundation of confidence for the country to become self-reliant and confidently move forward.

Ahead of the Congress, Standing Committee member Tran Cam Tu stated that preparations for the Congress have been completed with a spirit of innovation, democracy, and high responsibility. For the first time, reports have been integrated into a single, unified, and synchronized Political Report. In particular, the document includes an accompanying action program, clearly defining the projects, timelines, and responsibilities for implementation, so that the resolutions can be put into practice immediately. Nearly 14 million public opinions contributing to the draft document are vivid evidence of the consensus between the Party's will and the people's aspirations.
That belief is not only present in the auditorium but also in everyday life. Between April and August 2025 alone, 330 projects across the country were launched and inaugurated with a total investment of nearly 1.65 trillion VND. These projects, spanning across all sectors and regions of the country, have created jobs, built homes, alleviated the suffering of the sick, narrowed regional disparities, and opened doors to new knowledge and technology.
In that spirit, the "Quang Trung Campaign," which rebuilt homes for people in Central Vietnam after the floods, became a vivid symbol of the spirit of "for the people, no one is left behind." In just over 45 days, tens of thousands of houses were repaired, and thousands of new houses were built. This is a testament to responsibility and humanity, bringing joy to the people on the eve of the 14th National Congress and the upcoming Lunar New Year.
During these same days, Vietnam also marked another milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for its first semiconductor chip manufacturing plant, a project celebrating the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This is the first time the country has established domestic chip manufacturing capabilities, laying the foundation for the goal of mastering core technologies and developing a semiconductor ecosystem.
Extended highways. Social housing projects. Tiny chips containing immense intelligence. All of these contribute to the synchronized and powerful development of the country today.
As shared by Politburo member and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, the impressive achievements of this term are the result of the wise leadership, strong character, and strategic vision of the Party, especially the decisive and close guidance of the Politburo and the Secretariat, headed by the General Secretary, along with the decisive, dynamic, creative, and responsible management of the Government. Above all, it is the collective effort, unity, and absolute support of the people, the strength of the great national unity bloc being highly utilized during the most difficult times.
From today until January 25th, the National Convention Center will be the solemn yet warm workplace of the Congress. Authorities have implemented a comprehensive security plan, from traffic management to multi-layered security controls. The Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense are working closely together to ensure the Congress takes place under the highest level of safety. The quiet dedication of those on duty forms the foundation for the successful discussion and agreement of major decisions.
The 14th National Congress not only summarized a period of progress but also opened up a new vision. The Congress documents emphasized rapid and sustainable development based on three pillars: economy, society, and environment. The new growth model will be based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Improving the lives and happiness of the people is identified as the ultimate goal. This is the strategic direction for the next five years and beyond, aiming towards the 2030 target and the 2045 vision.
Outside, Hanoi is resplendent with flags and flowers. On the streets, streams of people and vehicles flow seamlessly. This atmosphere is a harmonious blend of politics and life, of major policy decisions and the rhythm of daily life. The Congress began with such simple moments, from which major decisions were formed, carrying the people's faith in a strong and prosperous future for the nation.
