The Fall 2025 EducationUSA Fair Week, with the participation of representatives from 60 accredited U.S. colleges and universities, including top research universities, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges, officially opened in Hanoi on September 24. Afterwards, representatives from U.S. colleges and universities will continue to provide information about hundreds of college, undergraduate, and graduate programs in a variety of fields of study in the United States to parents and students in Ho Chi Minh City (September 26) and Da Nang (September 27).

“The United States offers world-class educational opportunities. The growing number of Vietnamese students studying at U.S. universities and colleges reflects their appreciation for these opportunities and their commitment to quality academic education,” said U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper. “By studying in the United States, Vietnamese students are equipping themselves with leadership skills to return to Vietnam and contribute to the country’s economic development goals, especially in the high-tech sector.”
According to the US Embassy, Vietnam currently has the 6th largest number of international students in the United States and ranks first among ASEAN countries. The overall quality of Vietnamese students is increasingly improving, reflected in academic performance and English proficiency. The Open Doors 2024 report said that in the 2023-2024 academic year, there will be 22,066 Vietnamese students studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the United States, of which nearly half will choose STEM fields, contributing to promoting Vietnam's goal of developing human resources in high-tech industries.

The states with the largest number of Vietnamese students include: California, Texas, Massachusetts, Washington, and New York. Students from Vietnam not only contribute to building stronger cultural and educational ties between the two countries, but also bring practical economic benefits to communities in the United States. In the 2023-2024 school year, Vietnamese students contributed more than $1 billion to the U.S. economy.
Through its EducationUSA Office, the U.S. Mission to Vietnam provides free, accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about study opportunities at accredited educational institutions in the United States. Students and parents with questions about the U.S. visa process can visit travel.state.gov for accurate and up-to-date information.
In addition, the U.S. Embassy website also provides updated information in Vietnamese about the visa process: U.S. Visa Services - U.S. Embassy and Consulate General in Vietnam. EducationUSA advises students and parents not to use the services of unreliable educational consulting companies that claim to be able to assist with obtaining a U.S. student visa.
In the context of Vietnam and the United States continuing to strengthen bilateral relations and develop on the basis of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnamese students who complete their study programs and return to their home country, with critical thinking, leadership ability and problem-solving skills - which are the training strengths of US educational institutions, will create positive and sustainable impacts on Vietnam's human resource development goals, including high-tech industries.
