The 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV) will take place from June 28th to July 4th in Da Nang City. This year's festival is the largest and most attractive ever, featuring many new elements.

This was the statement made by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Film Promotion Association (VFDA) and Director of DANAFF IV, at a press conference held on the afternoon of June 3rd in Hanoi . The event was jointly organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee and the VFDA.
Expanding in scale with many programs being organized for the first time.
According to Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, in its 4th season, DANAFF has expanded its scale, diversified its programs, and strengthened professional activities, training, networking, and film development, as well as expanding the Vietnamese film market to the world .

This is the first season that DANAFF is holding its Film Industry Connection program (DANAFF Industry Days).
Taking place over two days, June 30th - July 1st, DANAFF Industry Days comprises four main activity groups: Introducing the latest developments and potential of the Vietnamese film market; presenting upcoming projects from 10 leading film studios and production companies; facilitating direct B2B connections between Vietnamese businesses and over 20 selected international film purchasing companies; and a series of specialized seminars, DANAFF Industry Talks, focusing on the opportunities, challenges, and trends shaping Vietnamese and Southeast Asian cinema.
With DANAFF's Cinephiles, DANAFF is collaborating for the first time with universities in Da Nang, primarily the University of Education, to gradually build a community of young film enthusiasts, equipped with knowledge about cinema, especially art films, along with skills in organizing clubs, events, and film screenings.
Expected to last at least 3 years, the program will launch in June 2026 with a series of activities including film screenings, film learning, interactions with directors and actors, and events introducing DANAFF to university students in Da Nang.

DANAFF IV also marks the first time the festival has a DANAFF booth. Designed as a space for interaction, promotion, and experience, connecting cinema with businesses, brands, and the film-loving community, the DANAFF booth is located in APEC Park, promising to become a vibrant stop for audiences, artists, and visitors throughout the film festival…

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong acknowledged and highly appreciated the proactive spirit, creativity, and persistent efforts of VFDA, specifically Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan and the DANAFF Organizing Committee, in building and developing a film festival of regional stature, with increasingly high professional quality and wider reach.
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong affirmed that DANAFF has gradually established itself as a prestigious film event in Vietnam and the region. After only four editions, DANAFF has created its own unique identity, attracting the attention of numerous artists, filmmakers, and film organizations both domestically and internationally, becoming an important forum for showcasing valuable cinematic works, promoting creative exchange, and strengthening cooperation in the film industry.
102 films, 200 free screenings, and many other exciting activities.
DANAFF IV is themed “Bridging Asia to the World”. The festival continues to aim at honoring outstanding cinematic works that are rich in humanistic values and demonstrate innovative artistic language; encouraging and nurturing talent; and widely introducing to the public representative works of Vietnamese, Asian, and world cinema.
Within the framework of DANAFF IV, there are 102 films, each screened twice. There are 200 screenings at the following cinemas: Le Do (2 rooms), CGV Da Nang (3 rooms); Galaxy Da Nang (2 rooms). Before or after each screening, the audience has the opportunity to interact directly with the artists, crew, and film team.
The event attracted a large number of filmmakers from across the country.
The Asian Film Competition program features 13 films from the following countries and territories: Vietnam, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, China, Pakistan, India, and one co-production film from Turkey, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Greece, and Saudi Arabia. Of these, Vietnam has one film, and another is a co-production with the United States.
The Vietnamese Film Competition program features 11 works, all of which are outstanding films of Vietnamese cinema from the past two years, possessing professional quality, commercial success, and the ability to connect with the public.
The Asian Cinema Panorama program features 21 films, creating a diverse picture of the region's culture, languages, and contemporary cinematic trends. This includes 19 films from 16 countries and territories, and 2 films that are co-productions involving multiple countries and territories. Vietnam's representative in this program is "Underground Tunnels, Sun in the Darkness".
A large number of film industry managers and professionals from both Vietnam and abroad attended the press conference.
Today's Vietnamese Film Program features 28 films, including 13 feature films, 6 documentaries, 5 animated films, and 4 short films from the Vietnamese Short Film Competition 2025, organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Film Development Promotion Association.
The film program "The Face of Vietnamese Cinema in 40 Years of Renovation" (1986-2026) showcases 17 representative feature films produced over the past four decades. This is one of the key programs of DANAFF IV. Through this program, domestic audiences, international guests, and delegates will have the opportunity to look back on the development of Vietnamese cinema over the past period.
The American Film Spotlight program, featuring 11 films, offers audiences the opportunity to explore key milestones in one of the world's most influential film industries, while also reflecting on the evolution of cinematic language, storytelling, and production methods across generations in American cinema.
The outdoor film screening program features 5 films with 7 outdoor screenings held at APEC Park in Da Nang, Da Nang Cultural and Cinema Center, Hoa Khanh Central Administrative Square, Tam Thanh Beach, and Hoai River Square (Hoi An).
The film festival will include three seminars: “The Face of Vietnamese Cinema in the Renovation Period”; “Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology and Intellectual Property Protection in Cinema”; and “The American Film Industry - Some Successful Models and Suggestions for Vietnam”. These seminars will bring together a large number of experts, researchers, filmmakers, and film educators.
The DANAFF Talents Project Incubator – a program for discovering, training, and developing film talent within the framework of DANAFF – selected 18 projects for in-depth development. The program opens up numerous opportunities for filmmakers from within and outside ASEAN through workshops, pitching, and direct connections with a network of international experts, producers, and distributors; in-depth scriptwriting training; and intensive acting and film production classes.
The opening ceremony (June 28) and the closing ceremony and awards presentation (July 4) will take place at the Ariyana International Convention Center in Da Nang City, and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television; several other platforms will also stream live.
