On the afternoon of September 20, continuing the working program in Dak Nong , Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Quang Van Huong led the National Assembly's Ethnic Council delegation to have a working session with the People's Committee of Dak Nong province.
In the period of 2019 - 2023, Dak Nong province has assigned protection contracts for an average of about 19,341 hectares/1,013 households/year. The province has assigned 4,741 hectares of forest to 12 communities to manage, protect, and practice culture and beliefs associated with forests; assigned 821 hectares of forest to 88 households to manage, protect, and develop forests according to regulations.

During this period, Dak Nong implemented a forest protection and development policy of over 732.7 billion VND. The average income of people participating in forest protection and development is from 350,000 - 800,000 VND/ha/year.
The implementation of the policy has encountered many difficulties, the poverty rate in some remote areas is still high. In addition, the province still has many constructions and investment projects facing difficulties due to being included in the bauxite and forestry planning, waiting for ministries and branches to consider and resolve.
At the meeting, there were many opinions about the province's forest allocation work being lower than its potential; granting land use rights to the community is still inadequate; land management from forestry land is very complicated; there needs to be specific policies for the province...
Speaking to the working delegation, Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that Dak Nong has a large population of spontaneous migrants, causing great pressure on the province's economic and social development.
After this meeting, the province will hold a meeting to resolve internal difficulties of Dak Nong, and remove obstacles related to land and forest allocation in ethnic minority areas.

Concluding the working session, Mr. Quang Van Huong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council, assessed that the opinions at the working session helped the delegation understand more deeply about the topic of supervision.
The province needs to pay attention to the customs and cultural activities of ethnic minorities associated with the forest to avoid their disappearance. In addition to culture, the province needs to pay attention to income and economic stability so that ethnic minorities can stabilize their lives associated with the forest.
The province carefully reviews the land area recovered by forestry companies to delimit and hand over to competent units for management and protection. For disputed and encroached forest land, it is necessary to establish a file to monitor the subjects so as not to make the case more complicated.
The province needs to direct departments and branches to study legal documents and specify them for implementation in accordance with local practices...
