According to experts, Vietnam is about to enter the harvest season with an estimated output of around 170,000 tons, accounting for about 35-40% of the global supply. Therefore, the world pepper price may still fluctuate.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the harvest is still ongoing in southern Sumatra. This year's production is estimated to be good thanks to scattered rains in the early stages. Meanwhile, in Bengkulu and South Sumatra, harvesting is underway in most areas. Farmers have also started to stockpile after selling large quantities earlier.
After Indonesia's most recent harvest, until February 2025, the world's pepper supply has not been significantly supplemented, contributing to supporting Vietnam's new harvest.

The pepper market last week continued to witness trading sessions with prices falling and recovering alternately. Pepper prices are under pressure from business cash flow shifting to coffee and the strengthening of the US dollar. However, limited pepper supply in the context of the harvest season still a few months away has contributed to keeping pepper prices high.
The International Pepper Community commented that the pepper market this week had mixed fluctuations. While domestic black pepper prices in Sri Lanka increased, domestic and international pepper prices in India decreased.
According to Harris Spice, pepper prices have eased slightly since the beginning of the month. Buyers remain cautious, awaiting further clarity on production in Vietnam and Brazil for the coming crop year.
