On May 20, speaking to the press, Mr. Vo Thanh Luan (in Nhon Ly commune) said that his group had just discovered a very large school of dolphins swimming around 4km off the coast of Nhon Ly commune, in the area near Hon Can and Hon Co islands.

According to Mr. Luan, at around 5:00 p.m. on May 19, he and a group of friends went fishing when they suddenly saw a school of dolphins swimming. After stopping to observe, Mr. Luan and his group of friends took out their phones to record the scene.
“I often go to the sea to see dolphins, but this is history because this group has a very large number of dolphins, estimated to be over 100. Dolphins swim and disperse in the open sea, swimming in layers, many of them swim to the surface of the sea weighing several dozen kilograms,” Mr. Luan shared.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh, Chairman of Nhon Ly Commune People's Committee, the Hon Can and Hon Co sea areas are on the annual migration route of many fish species, so dolphins often appear.
The appearance of a large school of dolphins may be due to the South Central Coast's good recovery and abundant food resources.
