The Vietnamese girls' opponent in the final match of the 4-person women's team event is rival Thailand, the world's number 1 sepak takraw team and also last year's champion.
In the most recent confrontation between the two teams in this event in March this year at the World Cup in India, the Vietnamese women's team won 2-1.
In this rematch, host Thailand started better, winning 15-12 in set 1.
However, in the next 2 sets, Coach Tran Thi Vui's students played extremely steadily, most notably main attacker Tran Thi Ngoc Yen.
In set 2, the Vietnamese women's team won 15-8. In the deciding set, despite being down 5-2, the Vietnamese girls scored 7 consecutive points to lead 9-5, before winning 15-7.
Defeating Thailand 2-1 (12-15, 15-8, 15-7), the Vietnamese women's team won the gold medal in the 4-women team event.
Thus, the Vietnamese girls have paid off the debt of losing to Thailand in the final last year.
In the men's 4-man team event, Vietnam also reached the final but lost to the Japanese men's team and received a silver medal.
At the end of the 2025 World Sepak Takraw Championship, Vietnamese Sepak Takraw won a total of 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
