The FIFA Club World Cup has undergone a major change since 2024. The old version with 6 continental champions has been renamed the Intercontinental Cup and will still take place annually. Meanwhile, the new format FIFA Club World Cup will be held every 4 years, on a scale similar to a miniature World Cup.

The 2025 tournament brings together 32 of the world's top clubs, including European giants such as Real Madrid, Man City, Bayern Munich, PSG, Inter, Juventus, Chelsea, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid.

In particular, the home team Inter Miami with superstar Lionel Messi will also be present, creating the possibility of Messi reuniting with PSG right from the round of 16. The tournament also has the presence of a series of stars such as Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Rodri, Harry Kane or Ousmane Dembele.

FIFA rules require teams to field their strongest squad, with a minimum of 26 and a maximum of 35 players. Each match can have 26 players (11 starters, 15 substitutes). Teams can replace up to two players whose contracts expire mid-tournament, but a player cannot represent more than one club.

The group stage will take place from June 14 to June 26, with four matches per day. The opening match will be between Inter Miami and Al Ahly at 7am on June 15 ( Hanoi time) at Hard Rock Stadium. Match times will vary from 11pm to 9am the following morning, suitable for international audiences. The knockout stage will take place from June 28 to July 13, with the semi-finals and finals both starting at 2am.
