'Awakening' heritage in the heart of the city.

Located in the heart of bustling Thai Nguyen province, the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures (VHCDVN) is known for preserving historical artifacts and providing a solemn and tranquil space. However, for more than a month now, it has become an emotional "touchpoint" for a new trend among young people.

Without having to travel hundreds of kilometers, young people in Thai Nguyen have recreated the atmosphere of Lo Lo Chai village (Ha Giang) right here in Thai Nguyen. Under the gleaming yellow earthen roofs, beside stone-paved courtyards, or beneath rustic stilt houses, the youth have created cinematic scenes and images.

Interestingly, they didn't simply copy. With a modern aesthetic sense and a refined approach to camera angles and lighting, these young people breathed new life into the old setting. It's not just a simple "check-in" trend, but a way for young people to reconnect with their roots and express their individuality based on national culture.

Sharing their feelings about experiencing this space, Vu Thi Huyen Trang and Nguyen Thu Trang (students from Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy) excitedly said: "We were really surprised. Just by wearing traditional clothes and choosing the right spot, it felt like we were standing in the middle of a real rocky plateau. The space here is both peaceful and gives us the opportunity to learn more about the architecture of the houses of the ethnic minorities."

Nguyen Duc Trung from Phu Tho also shared his reason for choosing this destination: Instead of crowding into modern entertainment areas, I chose the museum because I wanted to find a traditional Tet atmosphere, take beautiful photos, and feel relaxed and nostalgic during the last days of the year.

The creativity of young people has inadvertently "awakened" the tourism potential of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, transforming it from a historical treasure trove into a vibrant, connecting space. Recognizing the strong appeal of this trend, the Museum Management Board has made flexible adjustments to serve the needs of the public.

Ms. To Thi Thu Trang, Director of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, said: "For more than a month now, the number of young visitors to the museum has increased dramatically, reaching up to 1,000 visits a day at its peak. To keep up with the younger generation, we have quickly renovated the landscape, adding more miniature scenes and photo-taking corners themed around different regions and the Tet holiday atmosphere. A museum is not just a place for exhibitions, but a place where culture lives and spreads."

The images of women in traditional dresses, radiant smiles beside ancient houses amidst the spring blossoms of the Year of the Horse, are not merely about aesthetic beauty. They are proof of the sweet fusion between tradition and modernity. When the museum meets the cultural "genetic code" of young people, it is also when preservation work has succeeded through a completely new approach: Preservation through dissemination and experience.

Each photo posted on social media, accompanied by proud captions, is a cultural message being sent. Young people, in their own way, are becoming the most effective tourism ambassadors for Thai Nguyen.

Through their spring-themed photo series, young friends Vu Thi Huyen Trang and Nguyen Duc Trung share a common wish: They hope that these images will help people everywhere learn that Thai Nguyen is not only known for its tea, but also for its wonderful cultural spaces. They also hope that in 2026, tourism in Thai Nguyen will flourish even more.

The "Lo Lo Chai in the heart of the city" trend is a positive sign at the beginning of the new year, promising to paint a picture of Thai Nguyen tourism that is full of character, dynamism, and vitality in 2026.
