Awakening pride and love for Vietnamese heritage in young people with a sip of tea?

“Ai Tra” is not simply a tea tasting workshop but a journey of connecting emotions with the depth of Vietnamese tea culture, through experiences designed specifically for young people.

“Vietnamese tea is inherently unique, sophisticated and profound. However, due to the lack of an approach appropriate to the times, it has not been widely spread among young people.” That was the concern of the founders of the “Ai Tra” project, from which they decided to take action.

Instead of introducing tea as a simple traditional drink, “Ai Tra” chooses a new approach: telling the heritage story through emotional language – the language of love on June 7 in Hanoi . The event will be led by one of the typical young artisans in the field of research, conservation and development of Vietnamese tea, artisan Dao Duc Hieu.

Accordingly, the workshop is built around two main contents: an emotional bridge for couples and close friends - where each cup of tea is an expression of love; a journey of discovery for young Vietnamese people to better understand and appreciate Vietnamese tea heritage.

As one of the pioneers in preserving and developing ancient Vietnamese tea, artisan Dao Duc Hieu has nearly 15 years of research and handcrafting tea from ancient Shan Tuyet trees, and has served tea to heads of state and high-ranking political officials...

“I see in this project a very real, very young and very Vietnamese love for tea. That is what keeps me going,” said Dao Duc Hieu, who said he will share the beauty of Vietnam’s tea heritage, as well as demonstrate the elaborate process of making the best cups of tea from ancient Shan Tuyet tea leaves at the event.

Participants will also be invited to experience first-hand, or participate in the “Blindfolded Tea Guessing” challenge to better understand Vietnamese tea heritage; immediately after, they will be able to make tea for their loved ones. At that time, personal love becomes a bridge to bring young people closer to the love of heritage.

The "Ai Tra" project was founded by a group of young people passionate about Vietnamese culture, and is co-organized by Vietnamese tea artisan Dao Duc Hieu.

“The project is proof that young people do not turn their backs on heritage. On the contrary, they are the creative bridge between the past and the future, the ones who dare to innovate, dare to retell old things in a new language that is both intimate and full of emotion. That is also the reason why 'Ai Tra' was born, to sow the seeds of love, so that every young person can proudly say that Vietnamese culture is living in them, starting from a sip of tea,” emphasized artist Dao Duc Hieu./.
