Following the first round of voting on January 28th, Finnish voters have selected two candidates to participate in the second round of the presidential election in this Nordic country.

According to the Associated Press, former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb of the ruling center-right National League party and former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto of the Green Party have advanced to the second round of the presidential election in Finland.
According to election officials, with all votes counted, Stubb won 27.2% of the total vote, while candidate Haavisto received 25.8% of the support.
According to statistics, the voter turnout in Finland for this election was 71.5%. The two candidates are expected to compete in the second round on February 11th.
Speaking on national television channel Yle , Stubb declared: “Regardless of who I face in the second round of the election, we will have a constructive, civil, and good debate on the difficult issues of foreign policy.”
Mr. Stubb served as Prime Minister of Finland from 2014 to 2015, while Mr. Haavisto also held several ministerial positions in the cabinet.
In Finland, the president is the head of state, the supreme commander of the armed forces, and works with the government to direct foreign policy.
The current volatile geopolitical landscape in Europe is believed to be a major concern for the winner of this Finnish presidential election.
