The opening of the 50 free films is "Dao, Pho and Piano", a film funded by the State and released to the public earlier this year in a pilot project to screen 6 State-funded films in theaters, in the romantic epic genre written and directed by Phi Tien Son. The film created a sudden fever when it continuously sold out tickets at many theaters when it was released, even overloading the theaters' online ticket sales websites.
Director Phi Tien Son and the cast of "Peach, Pho and Piano" interact with the audience
"Peach, Pho and Piano" revolves around the story of the last Hanoians who stayed in the capital to fight in the 63-day and night war in late 1946 and early 1947, with the indomitable fighting spirit and romance of the Hanoians.
After the screening, director Phi Tien Son and the cast had a meeting with the audience at the theater. Sharing at the meeting, director Phi Tien Son said: "After reading and learning about the 63-day and night war of the Hanoi army and people, I personally feel very indebted to Hanoi, to the land where I was born and grew up. And one day, I came up with the idea of choosing a moment in Hanoi's history."
The director, born in 1954, shared that during the production of "Peach, Pho and Piano", each scene and every detail such as the pho stall, the tools, the street, the tiles or the architectural patterns of the year 1946... were all researched and recreated in detail. In addition, for dangerous scenes, the tools also needed to be specially designed to ensure the safety of the actors.
"When filming the film, I encountered many difficulties, but fortunately, I received enthusiastic and dedicated help from the film crew and actors to complete it to the end. History develops, people also develop. But the origin of Hanoi people in particular, and Vietnamese people in general, has not changed. Kindness and friendliness are still hidden deep in each of us, we may not realize it because we are too familiar with it, but tourists coming to Vietnam all realize it." - Director Phi Tien Son expressed.
