Early intervention in addressing real-world problems is crucial for improving workforce quality.

The Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group shared that he, as well as the leaders of Viettel, all graduated from domestic universities; and he appreciates the contributions of the national education system in providing Viettel with talented individuals across generations.

To collaborate with universities in training and provide students with early access to business and market challenges, Viettel organizes the Viettel Digital Talent program. The program has been held for three seasons. Each year, the number of applications increases. In season 3, Viettel received 2,000 applications, double the number from season 1.

Mr. Tao Duc Thang emphasized that the government is currently very interested in and wants to promote the high-tech industry in Vietnam. Leading global technology companies such as Samsung and NVIDIA have been invited to invest in Vietnam, and one of the most important requirements is human resources. Therefore, the goal of Viettel Digital Talent is to help students gain earlier access and more practical experience so that they can take on practical jobs immediately after graduation.

Attending the closing ceremony of the program, Mr. Huynh Dang Chinh, Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, commented: "Thanks to Viettel, and thanks to the needs of Vietnamese businesses in the country, with very urgent problems, our young people, even while still in school, have been able to combine their knowledge and aspirations to solve very interesting and exciting problems."

Mr. Huynh Dang Chinh believes that the greatest value the program brings is the spiritual energy it provides, helping students see how the knowledge they gain in school can be applied under the guidance of mentors from Viettel and its partner network, both domestic and international, in real-world problems.

A representative from the IT Department of the Ministry of Education and Training commented: "Viettel Digital Talent presented topics that address major problems pressing issues facing society and the world. The students demonstrated great courage and confidence in daring to conquer the next heights."

Reinforce knowledge beyond the classroom.

In addition to practical problems, the program also invites leading professors and doctors from universities to participate in teaching, reinforcing knowledge and adding critical perspectives for candidates.

Mr. Thang commented that universities have made many improvements in teaching methods, closely aligning with the realities of the labor market. For Viettel Digital Talent, inviting additional lecturers who have made significant contributions to the scientific community in Vietnam and around the world also helps Viettel's leadership consolidate new knowledge and keep up with scientific research to apply it in practice.

"We would also love to do these things for the students, but within the school's framework, we can't do everything. Having one of the country's largest enterprises partner with us and organize events like this is invaluable. I truly appreciate the support and the idea behind this program from Viettel for students nationwide," shared Mr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.

The Chairman and CEO of Viettel also stated: "Viettel will nurture this program, with the desire to further connect practical needs with educational programs, helping students access technology and global trends faster, earlier, and more professionally. Providing high-quality human resources for the country is not only the responsibility of educational institutions, but also the responsibility of businesses."

Speaking about the quality of this year's applicants, Mr. Thang assessed that all more than 2,000 applications for the program were from excellent students with a solid foundation of knowledge acquired at their universities. Of these, 200 candidates were selected based on their suitability for the fields and professions that Viettel pursues, as well as meeting the planned targets.

At the conclusion of Viettel Digital Talent Season 3, 71 outstanding candidates were selected to sign official employment contracts, joining Viettel in projects that will make a positive contribution to Vietnam in the future.

In April 2023, the Military Telecommunications and Industry Corporation (Viettel) held its opening ceremony with the participation of 192 outstanding students selected from nearly 1,900 applications.

In season 3, Viettel Digital Talent expanded its training areas to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City across 6 fields - Cloud, Cyber Security, Data Science & AI, IoT, 5G, and Software & Data Engineering.

Notably, this year Viettel also accepted additional candidates currently studying abroad. In its first expansion of the target group, Viettel selected nearly 40 students studying in eight countries: the USA, UK, Australia, France, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and China. Furthermore, 45% of the candidates participating in this year's program are students who have won national and international awards.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain practical experience at 9 agencies and units across diverse sectors of the Viettel Group in the next phase.

In the initial phase, interns receive training and career guidance from leading experts from universities and major technology corporations, including Viettel, both domestically and internationally.
