That is Phu Tho , the land of our ancestors. Every time we come to the “palm forests and tea hills”, the song of our origins seems to resonate in our hearts, moved by sacred and profound values.
For generations, Phu Tho has not only been a geographical name, but also a symbol of the nation's roots. This land of three rivers, where the Thao River, Da River and Lo River meet, has witnessed the dawn of history, from the time when "the Hung Kings founded the country", to the arduous journey of defending the country, to today - the glorious Ho Chi Minh era. Through many ups and downs, that land still maintains its quiet, ancient features but also full of enduring vitality.
“No matter where you go, remember the anniversary of the ancestors on the tenth of the third lunar month.” This folk song has been deeply engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese person, reminding them of their roots, of solidarity, of their sense of turning to their ancestors. The Hung Temple Festival is not only a ritual, but also a pilgrimage to history, to the cultural values that have shaped the Vietnamese people. With each step up Nghia Linh Mountain, everyone feels the sacredness, the inseparable connection between the past and the present.
Along with the common festival of the whole nation, this place is also the cradle of many unique folk art forms. That is Xoan singing. Hidden in the Xoan verses and dances is a spiritual ritual, the voice of the people sent to heaven and earth, the expression of respect to ancestors. The melodious and graceful Xoan melodies and dances have been passed down through many generations, together with the Hung King worship belief, to become a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Along with the Xoan melodies are the performances of flirting singing, both mischievous and humorous, lyrical and romantic, reflecting the rich spiritual life and youthful, life-loving souls of the people.
The culture of this northern midland region is not only about great things, but also permeates every house and every activity. It is the simplicity and honesty of the people in the craft villages. Traditional dishes such as Thanh Son sour meat, Phu Tho ear cake, or specialties from palm, tea, cinnamon... all carry the flavor of the earth, of the sky and the heart of the maker. Each dish is not only to fill the stomach, but also a story about traditional culinary culture, showing the ingenuity and sophistication of the people here.
The greatest value that the Ancestral Land contributes to today and tomorrow, along with tangible and intangible heritages, is the spirit of solidarity and awareness of origins. In a modern society with a hectic pace of life, these values become more precious than ever. When people are faced with choices and challenges, they will find strength from their roots. Phu Tho, with the story of the Hung Kings, has taught us a profound lesson about unity and strong will in the work of building and defending the country. "The King and the people, the people plow with the King". Those unique cultural features are not only the pride of the people of the Ancestral Land, but also a precious asset of the entire Vietnamese nation. It reminds us of the mission of preserving and promoting traditional values so that Vietnamese culture is not dissolved in the global flow.
Phu Tho today is different. From July 1, 2025, along with the process of rearranging administrative units across the country, taking the Ancestral Land as the center, merging Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh, Phu Tho province has been expanded in both space and cultural depth. On that basis, after completing the Party Congresses at the commune and ward levels, moving towards the 1st Phu Tho Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, the provincial leaders determined a vision with focused solutions: Building and promoting the cultural values of the Ancestral Land, the ancient Vietnamese people, the origin of the Vietnamese people; implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training; protecting and taking care of people's health; solving employment and ensuring social security...
Soon, new roads will open, many modern constructions will be built. But deep down, the soul of this land is still intact, the sound of bronze drums on Nghia Linh peak, the melodious xoan melody still echoes in the clear moon, the simple, sincere feelings of the people of the Ancestral Land, the Vietnamese Land. That is an inexhaustible source, a solid support for today's generations and those to come.
