On the afternoon of December 29, Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio held a press conference to introduce activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Golden Rice Competition and the 10th anniversary of the Southern Folk Music Art being recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Over the past 30 years, the Golden Rice Competition has contributed to inspiring and arousing the passion for singing and reforming opera for young generations; maintaining and developing the cultural heritage of Vietnamese traditional opera and reforming opera in modern times.
Over the years, the competition has undergone many changes in terms of organization and content, to better suit the general trend and the audience’s need to enjoy art. The VOH Theater has also been invested in building a new, grandiose one, always open free of charge for the audience to watch the program.
According to the organizers, in 2023, VOH will focus on implementing a series of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Golden Rice, including the 30-year journey of Golden Rice, broadcast every Saturday from May 20, 2023 to December 30, 2023, interviewing and interacting with artists who participated in the contest, the emotions of the audience, bands, directors, judges, sponsors, and organizers through the periods, thereby looking back at the 30-year journey of shining cai luong talents of the contest.
Writing contest to celebrate 30 years of Golden Rice Launched from October 2023 to November 30, 2023, it received nearly 100 entries, diverse in genres such as: Literature, poetry, vọng cổ songs, reviews... As a result, 5 works were selected for awards, including: The most favorite work Where the fire of passion is transmitted (author Trọng Thể) and 4 consolation prizes: 30 years, Sweet rice flower (Dung Ho); Golden rice heavy with seeds (Tran Thanh Du); 30 years of a love (Tran Minh Tuan); I am passionate about the traditional cải lương poetry program (Tran Huu Toan).
On this occasion, VOH organized an exhibition of images related to the contest over the past 30 years along with costumes and accessories of characters participating in famous cai luong plays, traditional musical instruments... The exhibition took place from December 29, 2023 to January 14, 2024 at Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice Station.
The 30-year Golden Rice Yearbook was also made to preserve images of the organizers, judges, contestants, bands... of all periods, along with memorable images and events of the competition over the past 30 years. The yearbook was released online on the website: voh.com.vn and the Golden Rice Fanpage after the final ranking of the competition in 2023.
In particular, the 30th Anniversary of the Golden Rice and the 2023 Competition Award Ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. on January 13, 2024, at VOH Theater - Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio Station, with the following contents: Interviews and exchanges with outstanding individuals and groups who have contributed throughout the 30 years of the competition; meetings with artists, judges and organizers of each period; honoring, awarding certificates of merit and gifts to organizations, groups and individuals; a special Cai Luong art program with the participation of People's Artist Bach Tuyet, People's Artist Trong Phuc, Meritorious Artists Phuong Hang, Phuong Loan, My Hang, Thu Van, Artist Hai Long...; awarding the 2023 Golden Rice Competition and the writing and composition contest to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Golden Rice.
The 2023 Golden Rice Competition started in April 2023, going through the following rounds: Sowing, Young Rice, Heading, Golden Rice and the final ranking round. The preliminary round held in Dong Thap, Bac Lieu and Ho Chi Minh City attracted nearly 500 contestants.
The jury accompanying this year's competition includes People's Artist - Doctor Bach Tuyet, People's Artist Minh Vuong, People's Artist Thanh Tuan, Meritorious Artist Huynh Khai, and Artist Thanh Hang.
After 6 months of dramatic rounds, the 6 most outstanding candidates will compete in the final ranking round, taking place on the afternoon of January 6, 2024 at VOH Theater, broadcast live on radio and television on the following channels: AM 610Khz Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice - VOH, FM 100.4 Mhz Soc Trang Radio and Television, FM 98.4 Mhz Dong Thap Radio and Television, BLTV channel Bac Lieu Radio and Television, HTV1 channel - Ho Chi Minh City Television; livestream on the website: voh.com.vn and Fanpage Bong Lua Vang.
