Apple just launched a series of new iPhones on the night of September 10 (Vietnam time). Of which, the iPhone Air is definitely the highlight because of its new, super-thin design, forcing Apple to make a series of design changes.

With the iPhone Air, Tim Cook emphasized that this is the model with the “most durable design ever”. He said that Apple has taken advantage of “every last bit of space” to dedicate to the battery, promising impressive battery life. With an ultra-thin design language but without sacrificing durability, the iPhone Air is expected to balance aesthetics and the ability to meet the needs of all-day use.

The iPhone Air is incredibly thin, thanks to its high-density battery. The company did not specify the capacity or whether it uses Silicon-Carbon like Chinese companies. At 5.6 mm, the device is 0.2 mm thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge. Apple claims this is an ultra-thin device with "Pro" standards.

The impressive thinness of the iPhone 17 Air

The iPhone Air is also powered by the A19 Pro chip, which Apple claims is the most powerful processor ever in a smartphone. It has a 6-core CPU, delivering superior processing speed, along with a second-generation dynamic caching architecture that optimizes performance during heavy tasks.

Each GPU core is integrated with a Neural Engine accelerator, helping the device process artificial intelligence tasks faster and more efficiently. Apple likens this power to “the equivalent of a MacBook Pro in an iPhone”, showing the ambition to turn the phone into a powerful enough tool to handle everything from complex graphics to next-generation AI applications.

The iPhone Air has to sacrifice a lot of internal space, so it only has a single 48MP camera. The large sensor solves the problem of telephoto shots with optical quality, according to the advertising agency. However, compared to the S25 Edge, it lacks a wide-angle lens. The decorative strip next to the camera also reminds a lot of Google's Pixel.

The iPhone Air supports dual-camera recording with both the front and rear cameras. The same solution was previously available on the BlackMagic Camera app. This time, Apple users can use it right on the default app.

Apple labels the 17 Air as having “all-day battery life,” but that remains to be seen.

The ultra-thin design also means that the iPhone Air is the first phone to not have a SIM slot on any version. The product only has an eSIM option on all markets. Compared to the regular version, the iPhone Air has fewer color options. In return, the company creates many accessories for the device, including fashion straps.

iPhone 17 has many valuable upgrades

The device has the same appearance as its predecessor, the screen size increased to 6.3 inches with thinner bezels.

As rumored, the iPhone 17 is the first standard iPhone to feature ProMotion, a 1-120 Hz variable refresh rate. Outdoor screen brightness can reach 3,000 nits, the highest of any iPhone to date.

The iPhone 17's display features a Ceramic Shield 2 coating that is three times more scratch-resistant than the previous generation, along with seven layers of anti-glare. The color options on the device have changed slightly, while the overall design is identical to the iPhone 16.

In terms of hardware, the iPhone 17 is equipped with an A19 processor chip on a 3nm process. Apple said the new chip improves graphics capabilities, the Neural Engine, and memory bandwidth, helping AI models run faster on the device.

The A19 version on the iPhone 17 has 6 CPU cores and 5 GPU cores. Apple continues to emphasize that the iPhone 17's battery life can last all day, plus 8 hours of video playback, although it does not specify the specific capacity.

The iPhone 17's rear camera includes 2 lenses: 48 MP main camera (f/2.2 aperture, 13 mm focal length) and 12 MP telephoto camera (f/2.2 aperture, 26 mm focal length).

With the front camera, Apple changed the sensor to a square shape, supporting Center Stage to automatically navigate to the user when making video calls or meeting online. Users can adjust the shooting mode to portrait or wide angle (landscape) without rotating the phone, the maximum resolution that can be captured on the front camera is 18 MP.

The remaining features of the iPhone 17 are not too different from the iPhone 16 such as the Action button, Camera Control, Dynamic Island and vertical rear camera cluster. Apple continues to mention the Apple Intelligence feature set. The product has a minimum storage capacity of 256 GB, double that of its predecessor.

Apple said all iPhone 17 models will be available for pre-order from September 12. The iPhone 17 will still start at $799 , while the iPhone Air will start at $999 .
