Being the only one who still has both parents, but is facing the fear of being an orphan because both parents are seriously ill, the story of 13-year-old boy - Nguyen Huu Bao makes many people feel sorry. Nguyen Huu Bao (2012), is currently an 8th grade student at Yen Tho Secondary School, Van Hoa Commune, Thanh Hoa Province. He is living with his grandparents, parents and younger brother. Luckily, he still has a complete family, with both parents by his side, but the difficulties that Bao has to face are not small.

Previously, her parents worked as factory workers, trying to save up in the hope of building a small house for their children. However, since the end of 2024, a series of incidents have occurred, causing the whole family to fall into a deadlock, forcing them to take refuge with their grandparents. The grandparents are old and weak, with only 5 sao of rice fields, growing two rice crops a year, and an unstable income.

Bao's mother - Ms. Do Thi Quyen (1988) was diagnosed with stage 2 brain cancer after being treated for laryngeal fibroids. She had surgery in October 2024 and is currently undergoing radiation therapy, often having headaches and seizures. The family cannot afford chemotherapy. According to the doctor, the lowest cost of chemotherapy is 25 million VND/month. Currently, Ms. Quyen only receives 750,000 VND in medical allowance each month.

Her father, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam (1987), while taking care of his wife at the hospital, discovered that he had bilateral femoral necrosis and cervical spondylosis. He could not walk normally and had to take painkillers to survive. Sharing in the program, Mr. Nam said that the doctor estimated the cost of replacing one femoral joint to be 135 million VND, but the family could not afford it.

Huu Bao himself has just undergone surgery to tie the testicles. Bao's younger brother - Nguyen Huu Khoi (2018) is in 2nd grade. Although they are still young, both brothers love their parents very much. Huu Bao choked up and shared: "There are times when I see my parents in pain and don't know what to do, I'm just afraid that one day my parents will no longer be by my side and my brother's side."
Bao’s dream used to be very simple: to go to school like his friends, to pursue education for a better future. But now, the only thing he wishes for is for his parents to be healthy, and for him to grow up quickly to go to work and earn money to help his parents with their medical treatment.
MC Thanh Thao was speechless when listening to the story of Nguyen Huu Bao's family. "Most of the characters in Vietnamese Family Home are children who have experienced loss. But Bao is lucky to still have a source of love when both his parents are still alive. I see this source of light is so weak, I don't know when it will go out. The children are too young to face the fact that their parents are going through painful days every day because of illness ," Thanh Thao shared with tears in her eyes.

Knowing about Bao's parents' health condition, Thanh Thao was shocked because the cost of surgery and treatment was too high compared to the family's financial capacity. She worried about the future of Bao and his brother when their parents were seriously ill, their grandparents were old, and their siblings were too young to take care of themselves.

Faced with Bao's worries about the future, Thanh Thao once again could not hold back her tears: "As a mother with a child at the same age as Bao, I understand that what a mother wants most is to have good health to take care of her child's future. I firmly believe that those who have become mothers do not care about anything for themselves. The important thing a mother wants is to be able to earn money to take care of her child. For Bao's family, the mother's future may not be able to be rebuilt. Bao is also worried that he will not be able to continue studying, but he always promises to try his best, even if he has to drop out of school, he will not let his younger brother leave school unfinished. The boy is so young but is very understanding, which makes me very heartbroken."
Singer Ha Myo also choked up, constantly holding back her emotions to encourage the children. Actor B Tran expressed his admiration for Huu Bao because he is very understanding, knows how to manage the housework and take care of his younger brother. He encouraged Bao and his younger brother to try hard, not to give up their dream of studying, and to always strive to become the support of the family in the future. Besides sharing their words, B Tran and Ha Myo also gave their all in the challenges to bring valuable rewards to the children.

At the end of the competition, Thai Quynh Chi's family came in third place, receiving a prize of 19 million VND. Le Bao Chau came in second place, receiving 23 million VND. Nguyen Huu Bao's family won first place, overcoming a special challenge and bringing home a total prize of 60 million VND. Thus, in episode 151, the total prize money from Hoa Sen Group reached 102 million VND.
In addition, artists, philanthropists and local people joined hands to donate more than 443 million VND. Of which, 30 million VND was sent by singer Duc Phuc to all three families, to give them more motivation to overcome difficult circumstances.
The program Vietnamese Family Home is broadcast at 8:20 p.m. every Friday on HTV7 channel. The program is produced by Bee Media Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television, with the support of Hoa Sen Home Construction Materials & Interior Supermarket System (Hoa Sen Group) and Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe - Source of Happiness.
