Recently, many people traveling by motorbike on the Tan An City Beltway at night have fallen due to potholes. Ms. Mai Thi Huong (in Khanh Hau Ward, Tay Ninh Province) said that on the evening of September 28, she was driving her motorbike from Tam Vu to her home on the Tan An City Beltway. Near the intersection with National Highway 62, her motorbike fell into a pothole (nearly 0.5m wide, 20cm deep), she lost control and fell onto the road.
“The accident injured my shoulder and damaged my motorbike. Luckily, there was no vehicle coming from behind at that time, otherwise the consequences would have been unpredictable,” said Ms. Huong.

According to SGGP reporters on October 23, many sections of the Tan An City Beltway were cracked and severely damaged. Typically, near Bao Dinh Bridge, in some locations, the road surface was as rotten as powder, and when it rained, it created "potholes" and stagnant water, making it very dangerous for vehicles to pass through. Some "potholes" in My An Commune were patched by the authorities, but the repairs were perfunctory, with only crushed stone being poured, and the road surface was uneven, both unaesthetic and unsafe.
Witnessing many traffic participants falling because of "potholes" on the Tan An City Beltway, Mr. Mai Tan Hoang (My An commune) was upset: "The road was built for thousands of billions of dong, put into use for less than 2 years, with few vehicles passing by, yet it is already damaged."
Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Chairman of the People's Committee of My An Commune (Tay Ninh Province), informed that upon receiving feedback from the people, the commune sent forces to temporarily repair damaged sections in the area, and at the same time reported to the province for a long-term comprehensive solution.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Director of the Long An Construction Investment Project Management Board (Tay Ninh province), the Tan An City Beltway has now expired its warranty period and has been handed over to the local government for management and maintenance. The "temporary patching" to ensure traffic safety is only a temporary solution. In the coming time, the unit will coordinate with relevant agencies to comprehensively inspect the quality of materials, construction processes and supervision of the project to find a long-term solution.
On October 19, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province organized a team to inspect the degraded Tan An City Belt Road. After inspecting and carefully observing the damaged road surface locations, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province Nguyen Minh Lam assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant units to study a plan to upgrade the entire route with high-quality materials, and at the same time review the decentralization of management and maintenance to avoid slow detection and slow handling when incidents arise.
