The Directive stated that, in recent times, environmental protection in the city has always been of interest to Party committees and authorities at all levels, and many specific solutions have been implemented. Can Tho City has always identified environmental protection as both a goal and a fundamental content of sustainable development. The city is urgently reviewing, developing, and implementing urgent issues that need to be resolved to ensure environmental protection after merging and operating two-level local governments, maximizing the advantages of landscape and environment to continue realizing the goal of "Green and Clean Can Tho", an ecological, civilized, modern city imbued with the cultural identity of the Mekong Delta river region. To contribute to achieving the above goal, mobilizing the entire population to participate in environmental protection is a key and core factor, especially in the management of domestic solid waste, maintaining environmental hygiene in workplaces, living places, roads, neighborhoods, residential areas, urban areas, and public places.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Department Directors, Heads of city agencies, departments, branches, and Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards to proactively carry out many key tasks and solutions. First of all, determining the task of environmental protection as the focus and urgency of the entire political system, agencies, organizations, communities and the entire population, absolutely not for the purpose of economic development but taking lightly the work of environmental protection. At the same time, advising on the development of legal documents and executive documents of the City People's Committee on environmental protection work in the area to create a legal basis system to serve increasingly strict management work. Strengthening propaganda and mobilizing people to implement environmental protection in conjunction with urban order management, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas. Including the content of environmental protection in the regulations and community conventions in residential groups, residential areas, villages, hamlets, hamlets, and areas. Each household commits to managing and treating waste in daily life, production, business and protecting the landscape and environment of the place of residence; attaching compliance with community regulations and conventions, and complying with environmental protection laws to the criteria for cultural titles. Launching and organizing movements on environmental protection, maintaining public hygiene, preventing flooding, launching monthly environmental sanitation campaigns, associated with implementing models of "Bright - green - clean - beautiful residential areas", "Civilized routes", "Green Sunday"...

The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested units and localities to review and arrange collection points and transfer stations for domestic solid waste to ensure practical needs and meet technical requirements on environmental protection. Urgently review and thoroughly handle spontaneous garbage collection points that are not in accordance with planning, do not ensure environmental hygiene, causing environmental pollution on roads, neighborhoods, residential areas, urban areas, and public places.

The Directive emphasizes: The Chairman of the Commune/Ward People's Committee is responsible to the Chairman of the City People's Committee if there is a situation where spontaneous garbage collection points arise that are not in accordance with planning, do not ensure environmental hygiene, and cause environmental pollution in the locality under their management.
