Signing of cooperation agreement between the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province and Agribank branches in the area

(CTO) - On October 28, Agribank Long An Branch held a conference to sign a cooperation agreement to implement a loan program linking production, processing and consumption of high-quality, low-emission rice products in the Mekong Delta region between the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) of Tay Ninh province and Agribank branches in Tay Ninh province (Long An Branch, Dong Long An Branch, Bac Long An Branch).

Delegates witnessed the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement.

This is an activity to concretize the major policies of the Government, the Banking sector and the Agriculture sector in implementing the Project "Sustainable development of one million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030" (according to Decision 1490/QD-TTg dated November 27, 2023 of the Prime Minister and related regulations).

The conference was attended by Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam, Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Pham Minh Tu, Director of State Bank Branch Region 13; Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh Province.

On behalf of Agribank, there were Mr. Bui Thanh Quang, Head of Agribank Representative Office in the Southwest region; Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of Agribank Long An Branch; Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Director of Agribank Dong Long An Branch; Mr. Phan Tan Luan, Director of Agribank Bac Long An Branch.

At the ceremony, the representative of Agribank branches in the area, Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of Agribank Long An Branch, said: Agribank branches in the area are committed to implementing preferential credit packages specifically for businesses, cooperatives and farming households participating in the Project; reviewing the right needs, simplifying procedures, ensuring capital reaches the right subjects and targets. Agribank closely coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province to guide, appraise and supervise the use of loans; at the same time, supporting financial consulting, digital transformation, risk management and connecting technical information and banking services. Signing the cooperation agreement today is an important step, affirming the close coordination between Agribank branches and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province in mobilizing resources, contributing to the effective implementation of the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice according to the Government's policy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Minh Tu, Director of the State Bank of Vietnam Branch 13, emphasized: For the program to develop sustainably, it is necessary to organize it according to a complete value chain model, including inputs (fertilizers, agricultural materials), agricultural services (undertaken by cooperatives) and the output must be branded. Today's signing ceremony is an event affirming cooperation, the first step to turn commitments into practical actions, towards specific and measurable results.

According to the cooperation agreement, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province will coordinate with Agribank branches in Tay Ninh province in providing information, orienting production areas, supporting the connection of enterprises, cooperatives and farmers to participate in linkage models.

Agribank takes on the role of a key bank providing credit capital with preferential interest rate policies according to regulations of the Government, the State Bank and Agribank. At the same time, it creates conditions for organizations and individuals to invest in expanding production, innovating technology, and applying emission-reducing farming processes.

Mr. Bui Xuan Minh, Head of Corporate Customer Department, Agribank Long An Branch, approved the Draft Cooperation Agreement on the Project for Sustainable Development of 1 Million Hectares of Rice in the Mekong Delta.

The cooperation agreement also sets out specific coordination mechanisms in implementing green credit, ensuring capital flows to the right beneficiaries and improving the efficiency of loan use. The parties agreed to strengthen propaganda, technical guidance, change farming methods, encourage the application of environmentally friendly technology, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural production.
