Galaxy S25 Edge price drops by more than ten million VND after a few months on shelves

(Dan Tri) - In mid-May, Samsung introduced the thinnest phone in the S series, the Galaxy S25 Edge, in the Vietnamese market. After less than half a year, the selling price of this product has dropped by more than ten million VND.

Specifically, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is being offered by some dealers at a price of 18.4 million VND for the 256GB internal memory version. This price is 11.6 million VND lower than the listed price at the time of launch.

"After the price reduction, the Galaxy S25 Edge has become an attractive choice in the mid-high-end segment. Sales of this device have also grown significantly," said Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, representative of the Mobile America system.

The company’s price adjustment is considered a good opportunity for customers to easily own the product. However, this strategy has caused many mixed opinions as the price reduction will affect customers who buy the device early.

The device lost more than ten million VND in value after only a few months on the shelves. In case they want to resell the product on the secondary market, this group of customers will also suffer more losses.

Not stopping there, the deep discount strategy also affects brand positioning. The "depreciation" prejudice will change users' shopping behavior. Customers will have the mentality of waiting for the product to be discounted before buying, instead of owning the device early in the beginning.

Some recent leaks say that Samsung may have completely stopped developing the Galaxy S26 Edge product line. The main reason is that the Galaxy S25 Edge did not meet sales expectations compared to other versions in the same Galaxy S25 generation.

According to data from Hana Investment & Securities , Galaxy S25 Edge sales in the first month reached only 190,000 units. This figure is significantly lower than the Galaxy S25 (1.17 million units), Galaxy S25+ (840,000 units) and Galaxy S25 Ultra (2.55 million units).

As of August, the Galaxy S25 Edge has sold 1.31 million units. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra have sold 8.28 million, 5.05 million and 12.18 million units, respectively.

In fact, Samsung isn't the only manufacturer struggling with its thin and light phones. According to a report from The Elec , Apple is planning to cut production of the iPhone Air due to lower-than-expected market demand.

In Vietnam, the iPhone Air is also not popular with users. Dealers quickly adjusted the device's price after only one month on the shelves.

Currently, the iPhone Air is being offered at a price of 30 million VND for the 256GB version, a 2 million VND reduction compared to the listed price. The 512GB and 1TB memory versions are also being adjusted down by 1-2 million VND depending on the different color options.

"iPhone Air is positioned as a replacement for the iPhone Plus product line. However, the market acceptance has not met expectations. Currently, iPhone Air accounts for about 5% of total sales of the new generation of iPhones," said a representative of Minh Tuan Mobile system.
