Apple has just officially launched the iPhone Air, its ultra-slim flagship equipped with the A19 Pro chip – the company's most powerful processor to date. The device's appearance immediately puts it in direct competition with Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge, which has been on the market for several months.
However, the answer to the question "which machine is faster?" is not simple. Data from Geekbench shows that both have their own strengths, and the result depends heavily on perspective.

iPhone Air excels in single-core performance.
Initial benchmark tests of the iPhone Air recorded single-core scores ranging from 3,206 to 3,700 points, while multi-core scores reached between 8,546 and 9,737 points. These are impressive numbers, confirming Apple's promise of top-tier performance for the new ultra-slim iPhone line.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Edge – with the advantage of being more extensively tested – recorded single-core scores ranging from 1,579 to 3,205 points, significantly lower than the iPhone Air in many cases.

Galaxy S25 Edge takes the lead in multi-core performance.
Despite falling short in single-core tests, the Galaxy S25 Edge shines in multi-core processing capabilities. Geekbench data shows the device achieving multi-core scores ranging from 6,564 to 10,102 points, higher than the iPhone Air in the best tests. This reflects Samsung's advantage in handling demanding tasks or multitasking.
Real-world performance: There are no absolute winners.
If we compare the average scores from all available data (as of September 9th), the iPhone Air is slightly better than the Galaxy S25 Edge. However, this result does not mean that the iPhone Air is faster in every situation.

In reality, simply by selecting data from each test group, users can see which of the two devices is superior. Therefore, benchmark comparisons are often only for reference and cannot fully reflect real-world performance.
More importantly: Long-term stability
Both the Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air are powerful enough to handle most tasks, from work to demanding entertainment. A more important factor to consider in the near future will be the iPhone Air's ability to maintain stable performance under continuous heavy load. This is a key element that could determine the long-term user experience, rather than just relying on benchmark scores.
👉 In summary: Both the Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air 2025 are extremely powerful flagships, each with its own advantages: the iPhone Air excels in single-core processing, while the Galaxy S25 Edge is strong in multi-core processing. Ultimately, users will choose based on their actual needs, rather than just looking at benchmark scores.
