Vinh Long prepares to organize the International Coconut Industry Conference

On the morning of October 30, comrades: Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Chau Van Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province co-chaired the meeting and worked with Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Betrimex) on coordination in preparing for the International Conference on Coconut Industry - Coconext 2026. Also attending were leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, and representatives of the Ben Tre Coconut Association.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and agreed on the program and content of the joint workshop to promote the Vietnamese coconut industry, promote regional linkages in production, processing, export and sustainable development of the coconut industry in the Mekong Delta region as well as the whole country.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the total production value of coconut trees in 2025 is estimated at 4,180 billion VND (at 2010 comparative prices) and about 11,000 billion VND (at current prices), the growth rate of production value in the period 2020-2025 is 4.2%/year, accounting for nearly 10% of the production value of the crop industry, 6.5% of the agricultural production value and nearly 4.1% of the production value of the whole industry. By the end of 2025, the whole province will have 119,270 hectares (equivalent to about 22 million coconut trees), ranking first in the region and the whole country.

Betrimex Company representative presented the plan for the International Conference on Coconut Industry – Coconext 2026.

Currently, the whole province has about 183 enterprises producing and processing coconut products, with many different types and scales of operation, creating jobs for more than 9,000 workers. Products processed from coconut include: coconut oil, coconut water, coconut milk, coconut cream, shredded coconut, coconut candy, products from coconut nectar, coconut jelly, coconut cosmetics, coconut shell charcoal, coconut fiber and products from coconut fiber, coconut peat, coconut handicraft products...

The production value of the coconut processing industry in 2025 is estimated to reach about 4,000 billion VND, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2024, accounting for 7.5-8% of the province's industrial production value. Coconut export turnover in 2025 is estimated to reach about 500 million USD, an increase of 2.9% compared to 2024.
