Diverse products typical of the festive season

“Exhibition of booths displaying typical cultural products of the Khmer people” is one of the main activities of the “Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok festival in 2025”. The products on display are selected by participating localities with a variety of types, reflecting the culture of the Khmer people, contributing to creating a special highlight of the festival season.

“Exhibition of booths displaying typical cultural products of the Khmer people” is one of the main activities of the “Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok festival in 2025”. The products on display are selected by participating localities with a variety of types, reflecting the culture of the Khmer people, contributing to creating a special highlight of the festival season.

Diverse featured products

On the morning of October 30, localities gathered at Ba Om pond to display their typical products, creating a bustling atmosphere of the festival season. Hundreds of products were displayed, diverse and rich.

Many booths display agricultural products, fishing tools, traditional musical instruments, Khmer costumes, pentatonic orchestras, wood carvings, Khmer products and OCOP products... Through this, visitors can better understand the culture and spiritual life of the Khmer people.

At Tra Cu commune booth, there are typical products such as: bamboo salon set, miniature rural household products, rice paintings, flat rice, flower mats, farming tools, traditional Khmer costumes, OCOP rice products, crowns, masks...

According to Mr. Huynh Van Han - Acting Director of the Tra Cu Commune Culture, Information and Sports Center: The locality has established a Steering Committee to participate in the "Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok Festival in 2025", with the participation of neighboring communes, assigning members to carry out and participate in activities taking place during the week. In particular, focusing on selecting typical and typical products of the Khmer people, products that meet OCOP standards to participate in the display activities.

For Cau Ke commune, according to Ms. Thach Thi Som Oanh Na - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, to prepare to participate in the weekly activities, she has coordinated with An Phu Tan, Phong Thanh, and Tam Ngai communes to prepare nearly 20 products for display such as: wax coconut, wax coconut jam, Siamese coconut, honey, crow apple banana, palm fruit, sweet potato, dwarf tubers, Khmer costumes, and pentatonic orchestra... hoping that the local specialties will make an impression on visitors.

Particularly at the booths of Chau Thanh, Song Loc and Hung My commune clusters, there are many wood carving products that impress visitors. At the booths of Ngai Tu, Dong Thanh, Tra Con and Trung Thanh commune clusters, there are about 20 typical products and 8 OCOP products.

Although the arrangements have not been completed, the atmosphere of the exhibition is very busy and joyful. Mr. Le Van Long - Vice Chairman of Tra Con Commune People's Committee said: This is the first time we have participated in the exhibition of typical products of the Khmer people on the occasion of Ok Om Bok festival at Ba Om pond, it feels quite interesting. While displaying, we also visit the booths of other localities, diverse, rich, and imbued with national identity.

Highlight of the flower lanterns

Each display booth has a highlight of flower lanterns, which are done carefully and meticulously. Most localities coordinate with Khmer pagodas to make flower lanterns and water lanterns to participate in the festival night activities.

Venerable Giang So Thanh - Head monk of Bai Xao Giua pagoda, Ham Giang commune said: Having participated in the Ok Om Bok festival for many years, I and the Buddhists at the pagoda have prepared with the local government to make flower lanterns and water lamps to participate in the festival and have completed them, ready for the moon worshiping night.

At the booths of Tra Vinh, Nguyet Hoa and Hoa Thuan clusters, colorful flower lanterns were supported by monks of Ang Pagoda. Mr. Ton Thanh Hai - Director of the Culture, Information and Sports Center of Tra Vinh Ward said: The display activities on the occasion of Ok Om Bok every year are focused on, creating an impression on visitors to the festival. In particular, flower lanterns and water lanterns are quite special highlights, expressing the wishes of Khmer people for health, happy family, bountiful harvest...

The activities of displaying typical products are taking place in a joyful and unique atmosphere. This is truly a special highlight, a beautiful impression for visitors to the Ok Om Bok festival season, helping to connect and spread the traditional cultural values ​​of the Khmer people, contributing to building Vinh Long into a unique tourist destination in the Mekong Delta region.
