Ha Tinh proposes the Central Government to support investment in 7 projects to prevent and combat natural disasters.

(Baohatinh.vn) - Ha Tinh has proposed that the Central Government support the allocation of 5,010 billion VND to invest in the construction of 7 urgent dike and irrigation works to prevent and combat natural disasters in order to increase response capacity and protect people's lives.

Ha Tinh is one of the localities that is often directly affected by natural disasters and floods. In particular, the recent storms No. 5, No. 6 and No. 10 have caused an estimated loss of over 10,000 billion VND, and many sections of river banks and coastlines have suffered serious erosion. Along with that, the system of dykes and irrigation dams in the area was invested in a long time ago, with a low design frequency (only able to withstand level 10 storm winds). Many works have also seriously degraded, posing a potential risk of directly affecting people's lives and property.

Faced with that situation, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has sent a document requesting the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to pay attention to and support investment in 7 urgent dike and irrigation system projects to serve natural disaster prevention in the province from the central budget with a total investment of 5,010 billion VND.

Ha Tinh proposed support to upgrade the degraded Cam Nhuong dike and embankment system (Thien Cam commune).

The projects include: Project to enhance flood drainage capacity downstream of Ke Go lake (phase 2); restore and upgrade Hoi Thong sea dyke (Dan Hai commune, Co Dam commune); upgrade Cam Nhuong dyke and embankment (Thien Cam commune); repair and upgrade Huu Phu dyke from K15+300 (Cua Sot bridge) to K19+700 (Nam Gioi mountain), Thach Khe commune; repair and upgrade Dong Mon dyke from K19+500 (Dap Cot sluice) to K23+400 (Cau Phu), Thanh Sen ward; upgrade Khang Ninh dyke (Hai Ninh ward, Ky Khang commune); invest in Rao My Duong irrigation system (Nghi Xuan, Tien Dien and Co Dam communes).

The early arrangement and support of capital for the implementation of the above-mentioned projects is of urgent significance, aiming to improve the capacity for natural disaster prevention, ensure population safety, stabilize production, and at the same time contribute to the sustainable socio -economic development of Ha Tinh province in the coming period.
