Providing 40,000 steel baskets to the Central provinces for flood prevention

The Ministry of Construction said that tens of thousands of PVC-coated steel baskets and galvanized steel baskets are being urgently transported from the reserve warehouse in the South to the Central provinces under the direction of the Vietnam Road Administration, to ensure timely response to the consequences of floods, landslides and the clearance of important traffic routes.

The Vietnam Road Administration has requested the supply of 40,000 steel baskets to the Central provinces to promptly prevent, combat and overcome natural disasters caused by storm No. 12, ensuring traffic on national highways.

On October 29, the Vietnam Road Administration issued a document deciding to issue 40,000 steel baskets (PVC-coated and galvanized) from Road Management Area IV to Road Management Area II and Road Management Area III to promptly serve the work of preventing, combating and overcoming natural disasters caused by storm No. 12, ensuring traffic on national highways in the Central provinces.

Accordingly, after considering the request of Road Management Zone II and Road Management Zone III to provide additional steel baskets from the reserve material warehouses of the Ministry of Construction , serving the prevention and overcoming of natural disasters caused by storm No. 12 in the management area, to promptly ensure traffic on national highways, the Vietnam Road Administration assigned Road Management Zone IV to urgently carry out warehouse release procedures, organize transportation and hand over to Road Management Zone II and Road Management Zone III 40,000 steel baskets (plastic coated and galvanized of all kinds).

“Specifically, hand over to Road Management Area II 15,000 PVC-coated steel baskets of size (2x1x0.5)m; 5,000 galvanized steel baskets of size (2x1x0.5)m with ties. At the same time, hand over to Road Management Area III 15,000 PVC-coated steel baskets of size (2x1x0.5)m; 5,000 galvanized steel baskets of size (2x1x0.5)m with ties. Order to issue spare materials and warehouse receipts, procedures on transportation costs, Road Management Area IV is responsible for implementing and completing procedures according to regulations”, Mr. Ngo Lam, Deputy Director of Vietnam Road Administration requested.

The leaders of the Vietnam Road Administration also directed Road Management Area IV to coordinate with Road Management Area II and Road Management Area III on delivery locations, ensuring convenience and prioritizing warehouse exit from suitable locations, close distance to promptly serve the prevention and recovery of natural disasters.

Vietnam Road Administration also requested Road Management Area II and Road Management Area III to proactively contact, discuss and coordinate with Road Management Area IV to organize the timely reception of the above quantity and types of steel baskets and ensure effective use of the mobilized steel baskets.
