In recent times, the emulation movement "Farmers in production and business are good, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" in Lao Cai province has developed strongly, becoming an important driving force to promote the sustainable development of agricultural and rural economy .
The movement not only arouses the creativity and daring spirit of farmers, but also actively contributes to the implementation of poverty reduction goals, new rural construction, and improving the material and spiritual life of local people.

Ms. Hoang Thi Chap, a Giay ethnic group in Lao Cai, earns 1.25 billion VND per year from raising fish fry.
From this movement, tens of thousands of farming households in the province have effectively exploited the potential of land, labor and available resources, boldly borrowed capital, applied scientific and technical advances, invested in expanding production and business scale. Many new production models and creative ways of doing things have been formed, bringing about clear efficiency, suitable to natural conditions and regional characteristics.
The province has seen the emergence of many highly effective economic models, such as the organic agriculture model, the integrated VAC model, the value chain linkage model in cultivation, livestock, aquaculture, or the integrated farm model with diverse plants and animals. Many farming households have risen from small-scale production with low income to become well-off, even becoming typical good producers and businesses of the province, with positive influence in the community.
Typically, Mr. Giang Van Din's household in Bat Xat commune with a comprehensive production and business model brings in an income of hundreds of millions of VND each year, creating jobs for 30 local workers; Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang's household in Trinh Tuong commune develops a comprehensive production model, creating regular jobs for 25 workers with stable income. In addition, many other farming households in localities such as Bao Yen, Van Ban, Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai... have also become bright spots in the movement with an income of hundreds of millions of VND, contributing significantly to the province's sustainable poverty reduction work.
Through the movement, the average income of people in rural areas of Lao Cai has been increasingly raised, the gap between rich and poor between regions and population groups has gradually narrowed. Many farming households not only enrich themselves but also create jobs, help disadvantaged households, and contribute to strengthening the spirit of solidarity and cohesion in the rural community.
Along with that, the emulation movement is also an important lever to promote the transformation of the province's agricultural economic structure, encourage farmers to change the structure of crops and livestock towards commodity production, apply high technology, ensure product traceability, meet market requirements and adapt to climate change.
Lao Cai farmers have changed their production mindset from small-scale, fragmented production to large-scale production, with clear links and product consumption contracts. Many concentrated commodity production areas have been formed and developed such as: cinnamon growing areas in Van Yen, mulberry growing areas in Bao Yen, high-quality tea growing areas in Muong Khuong, temperate fruit growing areas (pears, plums) in Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, or high-tech vegetable and flower growing areas in Lao Cai and Sa Pa. These are all important highlights in the province's sustainable agricultural development orientation.
In addition, the movement also contributes to promoting the development of collective economy and agricultural cooperatives. Many cooperative groups, cooperatives, branches and professional associations have been formed, closely linking farmers with enterprises, credit institutions and state management agencies. Thereby, gradually forming a closed value chain of production - processing - consumption of agricultural products, improving productivity, quality and added value for agricultural products of Lao Cai.
Another highlight is that the movement has spread the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, and mutual assistance in developing the economy in rural communities. Good farmers and business households actively share experiences, support seedlings and breeds, provide loans, provide technical guidance, purchase products, and create jobs for poor and disadvantaged households. In the past year alone, the whole province has had 264 poor farmers helped and supported to escape poverty and gradually stabilize their lives.
It can be affirmed that the movement "Farmers produce, do business well, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" in Lao Cai province has been, is and will continue to be an important driving force in the development of agricultural and rural economy, contributing to the successful implementation of multidimensional poverty reduction goals, building advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas. The movement not only honors the role of farmers as the main subject in economic development, but also affirms the great contribution of the Lao Cai peasant class to the cause of sustainable development of the province in the new period.
