On October 30, the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City held a press conference to inform about the Program "Joining hands for the poor and social security" of Hanoi City in 2025.

The program aims to respond to the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" for the 2021-2025 period launched by the Prime Minister ; promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual love and mutual assistance of the nation, create more resources, join hands with all levels and sectors to help the poor, contributing to the completion of the City's poverty reduction and social security goals.

The program will be broadcast live on Channel H1, Hanoi Radio and Television Station and digital platforms of Hanoi Radio and Television Station, Fanpage of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the City.

At the Program, Hanoi City will launch the Program "Joining hands for the poor and social security" of Hanoi City in 2025; Receive support from the City's "For the poor" Fund;

At the same time, based on the proposal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front that there are many near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances in communes, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City chose to award support at the launching ceremony with a total amount of 9,690,000,000 (nearly 10 billion VND). Specifically: 110 solidarity houses (support level of 50 million/house), 110 electric motorbikes (20 million/vehicle), 98 breeding cows (20 million/cow), 3 sewing machines (10 million/machine). Up to this point, dozens of units, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists have registered to donate nearly 40 billion VND to the City's Fund for the Poor.

In addition, the event will also honor outstanding groups and individuals with many contributions to poverty reduction and social security.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, in recent years, along with the City's policies, the Front at all levels has effectively implemented activities to mobilize, manage and use the "For the Poor" Fund, the "Relief" Fund, and the "For Vietnam's Seas and Islands" Fund. The City's "Relief" Fund alone has allocated more than 140 billion VND to support families affected by fires, natural disasters and serious incidents in the area as well as people in provinces suffering damage from storms and floods.

In 2024 and the first 9 months of 2025, the "For the Poor" Fund at all city levels supported the construction of 1,034 new houses, repaired 476 houses, and donated thousands of production vehicles and household appliances with a total value of over 69.8 billion VND.

In particular, in 2025 - on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi Party Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City supported the construction of 89 Great Unity Houses in 10 districts, with a total cost of 4.45 billion VND. This is a practical activity to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels and the Peak Month "For the Poor" in 2025.

At the same time, the City also donated VND8.45 billion to 690 near-poor households and 1,000 households in especially difficult circumstances, contributing to spreading the spirit of solidarity, caring for social security, and creating an exciting atmosphere among the people.

Currently, according to the results of the review according to the national multidimensional poverty standards for the period 2022-2025, Hanoi still has 690 near-poor households in dire need of the cooperation and support of agencies, businesses and philanthropists.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, said that the Program "Joining hands for the poor" and social security is an annual activity with profound humanitarian meaning and has been effectively implemented by Hanoi City in recent times. This program has made an important contribution to poverty reduction in the area.

The remarkable result is that the City currently has no poor households and only 690 near-poor households; the City is also making efforts to carry out social security activities, providing livelihood support means for people with working capacity such as motorbikes, sewing machines, means of production, livestock, sugarcane juicers, etc.

The program "Joining hands for the poor and social security" in 2025 was launched right after the success of the 18th Hanoi Party Congress, demonstrating the determination of the Party Committee, government and people of the capital in successfully implementing the Congress Resolution, making social security one of the 10 key tasks for the 2025-2030 term.

"In 2025, Hanoi City plans to support housing, build solidarity houses, and make every effort to have no near-poor households by 2025 and strive to become a locality with good income and surplus resources to support other localities," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan shared.

According to Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, the scope of the program is not only limited to the city but also spreads to support other provinces and localities heavily affected by natural disasters. This clearly demonstrates the spirit of "Hanoi with affection - responsibility - creativity, for the happiness of the people".
