The 2-day, 1-night Binh Lieu tour is popular with many tourists.
From October to the end of December, Binh Lieu ( Quang Ninh ) enters its most beautiful season of the year - the season of pristine white reeds and golden ripe rice fields. Many tourists don't miss the opportunity to admire the majestic beauty of this border region during this time, causing weekend tours to be almost fully booked.
Hoang Cuong (32 years old, a tour guide in Hoanh Mo commune, Quang Ninh province) shared that October to December each year is the season when Binh Lieu attracts a large number of tourists to admire the white reeds blooming on the hillsides, watch the sunset from the landmark, and the sea of clouds on the "dinosaur's spine".

"In the last week or two, the number of visitors to Binh Lieu has increased significantly, especially on weekends. Our group of more than 10 people working in tourism, photography, motorbike taxis, and regular taxis can't keep up with the demand on weekends," said Mr. Cuong.
According to this tour guide, the most popular tour chosen by visitors to Binh Lieu usually lasts 2 days and 1 night, costing around 1.5-2 million VND, including expenses such as food, transportation, accommodation, and photography.

According to Mr. Cuong, tourists usually depart early in the morning and travel to famous check-in points such as the "paradise of reeds," the "dinosaur's spine," milestone 1305 in Hoanh Mo commune, Cao Xiem peak located in Luc Hon commune - known as the "roof" of Quang Ninh, or milestone 1297 (in Kien Moc commune, Lang Son , accessible from Binh Lieu).
"Tourists often have to hike for 30 minutes to 2 hours to reach the check-in points. The path is quite steep and about 1 meter wide, and on weekends like the past few days, it's packed with visitors, making movement difficult in many sections," Cường said.
Ngoc Hai, a tourist from Hanoi who visited Binh Lieu last weekend, shared that it took her nearly two hours to take a few satisfactory photos because there were people everywhere she stood.

"The reeds are only beautiful for about 2-3 weeks, so everyone rushes to take photos and visit, making the destinations almost impossible to find a place to stand," Hai said.
Besides the reeds, Binh Lieu at this time of year is also resplendent with the golden hues of ripening rice, blending with the misty haze on the mountain slopes. According to Dinh Minh, a tourist from Hanoi, the reed flowering season coincides with the rice harvest season, so visitors can combine exploring multiple destinations in one trip.
"People can check in at border markers 1300, 1297, and 1305 - the three most beautiful spots - or visit the Luc Hon terraced rice fields, Khe Van waterfall, Cao Ly mountain, and Cao Son flower garden," the male tourist said.

Binh Lieu travel itinerary
Based on his trip, Dinh Minh suggests a travel itinerary to Binh Lieu for tourists departing from Hanoi:
Day 1 : The group departs early in the morning from Hanoi via the Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh expressway, exiting at Mui Chua and traveling another 30km to the old town of Binh Lieu.
Tourists have lunch, then in the afternoon visit Khe Van waterfall or the terraced rice fields, before going up to marker 1297 to admire the reeds and watch the sunset.
Day 2 : Early morning, climb to marker 1305 (approximately 3 hours round trip), then return to Hoanh Mo or Binh Lieu town center for lunch before heading back to Hanoi.
Because the season for blooming reeds is short, the number of visitors increases significantly on weekends, so many hotels and homestays are often fully booked. Therefore, Dinh Minh advises tourists to plan their trip to Binh Lieu on weekdays to find quality accommodation at reasonable prices.

A popular check-in spot when visiting Binh Lieu is milestone 1297, where tourists crowd together to watch the sunset over the reed-covered hills.
"Before entering the landmark, tourists must declare their information to the border guards. If you arrive late, you'll miss the most beautiful moment of the day, so everyone should prepare a suitable schedule and arrive early," Minh added.
Regarding the weather in Binh Lieu this season, Mr. Hoang Cuong noted that the tourist attractions are located at relatively high altitudes, so visitors should bring warm clothing to prepare for cold and freezing weather.
