According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, the festival is organized to create a cultural and tourism highlight, to practically welcome the new year 2026, and to contribute to creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, enhancing the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
At the same time, it is necessary to raise public awareness in protecting the environment, especially river and water ecosystems, encourage sustainable tourism development; and enhance the efficient exploitation of resources and tourism products on the river.
Furthermore, the festival serves to develop inner-city tourism routes and connect river tourism between Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, and the provinces of the Mekong Delta…
In particular, diversifying and enhancing the distinctive cultural and tourism events of Can Tho city will create a ripple effect, contributing to the development of other economic sectors and the overall socio-economic development of the city.
