In the early morning of October 27, when the floods in the Central Central provinces had just temporarily stopped, the SOS Rescue Team Ha Tinh, led by Mr. Dau Van Man (from Mai Phu commune, Ha Tinh), had just returned to his hometown and had not yet had time to rest before being busy preparing to leave.
Upon receiving the news that Hue City was submerged in heavy rain and floods, with water rising rapidly, causing deep inundation and endangering people's lives, Mr. Man and 11 members immediately gathered rescue supplies, tied two large inflatable boats, and rushed into the flood zone.

Speaking hurriedly during the rescue journey, Mr. Man shared: “We were overwhelmed with messages and distress calls from the people. The whole team only had time to quickly eat a bowl of noodles, then got back on the boat as soon as we received news of where support was needed. We have been awake for several nights now. Even though we were tired, everyone tried a little harder, thinking of those who were trapped.”

For 4 days rushing into the flood zone, the SOS Ha Tinh Rescue Team roamed many wards of Hue City. Not minding the dangerous areas and deep, fast-flowing water, the team members coordinated with local authorities throughout the night to evacuate people from deep flooded areas, and supply food and drinking water to boarding houses and dormitories where hundreds of students and workers were isolated.

Coming to Hue City with his teammates from the very beginning, Mr. Tran Xuan Vu - a member of the rescue team, shared: “We have participated in many relief operations in many provinces and cities, but this time in Hue was really difficult. The flood rose too quickly, and many sections had strong currents, making it difficult for the boat to move. Some members of the team lost their phones and damaged their equipment, but no one was discouraged. We rescued an old man who was swept away by the water for nearly 500 meters, and brought many elderly people, pregnant women and children to safety.”

Looking at the image of the SOS Rescue Team in Ha Tinh steadfastly rowing a boat in the raging water, carrying the elderly and pregnant women from deep flooded areas to safety, many people in Hue City were moved. "In times of trouble, we see how warm human love is. We are very grateful to our friends in Ha Tinh for not being afraid of danger, coming to help us in times of trouble" - a resident in Hue City shared.
Not only directly participating in rescue operations, many individuals in Ha Tinh also quietly join hands to support flood victims with all their hearts.

Just this morning (October 30), Ms. Tran Thi Lan Huong (Thanh Sen ward) and her group of friends were present in Hue City to set up a 0-dong field kitchen to support food for people in deep flooded areas. Before that, when hearing about the serious flooding in Hue City, Ms. Huong posted an appeal on social media, mobilizing friends, relatives and donors to join hands to contribute. For several days, her group was worried about preparing food and collecting relief goods to be able to transport to Hue early in the morning.

Ms. Huong said: “To help people avoid food shortages, we mobilized more than 70 million VND in cash to buy drinking water, sticky rice, sausages, eggs, vegetables, etc. to bring to Hue city to set up a field kitchen to cook on the spot. Then we contacted local officials to distribute food to the right places. Our group of 10 people gathered from many communes and wards of Ha Tinh province to prepare food, expected to be 5,000-6,000 servings of sticky rice and drinks for people in Hue.”

Along with those who directly rushed into the flood area, many people from Ha Tinh in their hometown also turned to Hue in different ways such as sending money, necessities and relief supplies through volunteer teams. Each person contributed a little, some transferred a few hundred thousand, some donated boxes of instant noodles, bottles of water, life jackets... All of them were gathered into trucks filled with love, extending the journey of love from Ha Tinh to Hue.
Born and raised in the flood area, Ha Tinh people understand better than anyone the hardships and difficulties when the water rises, life is divided and disrupted, and they understand even more the value of sharing and solidarity. Therefore, in the midst of the Hue floods, Ha Tinh people, regardless of danger, quietly save people, deliver goods, and bring warmth and love to their fellow countrymen. These noble acts are lighting up the faith and motivation of people in the flood area and further warming the solidarity of the Central region.
