Quang Ninh participates in promoting cinema in Japan

From October 27 to 31, Quang Ninh joined the delegation of the Vietnam Cinema Promotion Association to attend the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) in Japan, and at the same time implemented a series of cinema promotion activities to promote the image of the country, people and potential of Vietnamese cinema to international friends.

The working delegation was led by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), former Director of the Vietnam Cinema Department, along with representatives from the localities of Quang Ninh, Da Nang , Son La, Dien Bien...

At the Tokyo International Film Festival, director Bui Thac Chuyen's film "Tunnels: Sun in the Dark" was selected to be screened in the World Focus category, marking the work's first international premiere.

Vietnam's main activities during this trip include organizing a booth introducing Vietnamese cinema at TIFFCOM, the workshop "Vietnam on screen: Regional voice, global reach" and the Vietnam Night program, where international filmmakers have the opportunity to learn more about the cinema environment and filmmaking opportunities in Vietnam.

Joining the working group of the Vietnam Cinema Promotion Association, Quang Ninh province introduced and promoted the image of culture, people, tourism and cinema destinations of Quang Ninh at major international cinema events, introduced Ha Long Bay, the Yen Tu relic and landscape complex newly recognized by UNESCO and other famous landscapes to international friends, thereby affirming the potential and advantages of developing tourism associated with cinema, attracting international film crews to survey and select filming locations, thereby spreading the image of Quang Ninh on global media.

This is an opportunity for Quang Ninh to expand cooperation with Japan and international partners, enhance cultural exchanges, exchange experiences in organizing events, producing films, exploiting tourism associated with heritage, and at the same time promote attracting tourists from the key market of Japan, contributing to increasing the number of international visitors to Quang Ninh in the following years. The event also creates opportunities to connect, approach partners, seek cooperation in film production and tourism services, thereby bringing practical benefits to the local economy.

Previously, Quang Ninh also participated in promoting cinema in France on the occasion of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival taking place in May 2025.
