Hiep Duc commune mobilized all forces to support people affected by floods.

ĐNO - Heavy rain combined with water pouring down from upstream has caused the water level of Tranh River to rise, causing widespread flooding in many residential areas and hamlets in Hiep Duc commune. The commune government is mobilizing all forces to respond and urgently support the evacuation of people to safety.

On October 29, the rising water level of the Tranh River caused flooding in many residential areas. In some households in the villages of Tam Tu, Tra Linh Tay, Thuan An... the water rose so quickly that people could not move in time. Many houses were flooded up to the roof. According to estimates, the entire Hiep Duc commune had about 410 flooded houses.

The traffic route from the commune center to the villages was deeply flooded, with 11 landslides along the route, making it difficult to access support and evacuate people.

Chairman of Hiep Duc Commune People's Committee Luu Hoang An said: "As soon as receiving information about the regulation of Song Tranh 4 hydropower reservoir, the commune government mobilized all forces to focus on rescue and evacuate 743 households with 2,976 people to high and safe places. One house was severely damaged by landslides."

The leaders of Hiep Duc commune quickly surveyed the facility, counted the initial damage and supported 100kg of rice and 150 boxes of instant noodles for the people. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hiep Duc commune and other organizations wrapped more than 200 banh chung to give to people isolated by flooding.
